Chapter 1 - A broken boy

3rd person POV -

Aether was unable to find his sister in Inazuma, and wanted to take a break before returning to his search.

"Traveler! Traveler!" someone shouted as he was soon dragged away to complete another commision.

"Ah. I'm sorry, but I'm going on a vacation" Aether said as he tried getting away.

"What!? No! You gotta help me!" the person said as Aether was dragged away.

A few hours later he came back looking exteremly tired.

"Aether! Are you alright!?" Paimon shouted as she hugged him.

He smiled and patter her head.

His tiny friend always managed to lighten the atmosphere.

"I'm alright Paimon. Just... tired. Soo tired" he said as he fell on the bed.

Paimon floated near his head and started playing with his hair.

"Don't worry Aether. We're going back to Mondstadt tomorrow. Right?" she asked.

"Mmmm... I want to, but it's gonna be hard. Maybe we'll stay in Liyue for a day" Aether said before falling asleep.

"Sweet dreams Aether" Paimon said as she flew away.

"Traveler. Nice to see you. Finally leaving?" Katheryne asked.

"Mhm. Finally managed to get some free time: Aether said while yawning.

Katheryne looked angry.

"Seriously, what do the people think? They're orking you like you're their slave or something" she said.

Aether chuckled.

"Come on. Atleast I'm getting paid" he said.

"300 mora for clearing out a hilichurl camp is nothing!" Katheryne shouted.

"Ok mommmmmmmm" Aether said in a teasing voice as he left for the Crux.

And he managed to finish 4 commisions the he definitely wasn't forced to complete.

"Traveler my boi! You're finally here" Beidou said as she bear hugged him.

"Ugh!? Beidou! Please don't" he said.

"Aww. What happened?" she asked.

"He has a few broken ribs because some idiots decided that him saying no to thier requests wans't a valid option" Paimon said.

"What th- Hey! Kazuha! Get a healer!" Beidou shouted as Aether fainted.

"Traveler? Aether? Heyyyyyy" someone said as they waved their hand infront of Aether's face.

He quickly stiffened as he noticed who it was.

"Ah. Sorry Paimon" he said.

"A-are you ok? You've been spacing out a lot" she asked.

"Meh. I'll live. Just too much stress" Aether said while yawning.

"Then stop doing all that work!" Paimon shouted.
