Cuddles

She was sitting on the curb,
Waiting,
For something that would never come.

She knew that,
But still had hope,
That maybe it would happen,
That her waiting wasn't for no reason.

That's when he came,
Not who she was waiting for,
Just someone.

Someone who she didn't expect,
Or know,
Or even want at the time,
But someone who she needed.

And as time crept by,
She still needed him,
And she grew to want him,
Love him,
And never let him go.

Just as she needed him,
Cuddles the dog needed her.
