The System

"Higher education is a must"

They said. They told me that I needed to have

Four years of schooling on top of all my years

Spent learning to recount dates and names I'll

Likely not remember without the help

Of a search engine or a paperback.

I struggle to understand the necessity

Of such a ridiculous theorem

Pythagoras likely did not

Study tax reform or

How to pen a proper sentence.

Then again, society says

That if you don't adhere to

The system, you cannot be

More than a burden on the

Shoulders of the government.

Because of course, the government knows

Everything.

Well I say,

"Forget the system!"

We were created to

Be independent, imaginative

Intuitive, intelligent, idealistic

People.

So be you.

And forget the system.
