Welcome  😍

Just a friendly reminder!

This book was written using realistic scenarios and my own experiences during my time living near New York City.  This is a work of fiction and most of the details are part of my imagination, including the characters. You will find lots of cliche of course.

Thank you for stopping by and happy readings to you all!

~ Chapter 1~

Job Searching in NYC

Christina was just a kid from the wrong part of town. At the age of 21, she was the sole legal guardian of her 16-year-old sister. Their mother died from a heart attack 3 years ago. After using the small amount of money left by the insurance company to pay for the burial, she had to sell her mother's home and her personal belongings to pay off the debt. The girls moved to a tiny studio apartment roughly the size of 185 square feet, located in one of the roughest areas of Bayonne, NJ. Christina was brilliant, tall, blessed with curves, beautiful big brown eyes, full red lips, curly brown hair, and beautiful olive skin while Ana was short, and had a slender body, with blonde hair and blue eyes."

 "Ahh!" Christina sighed.

 "Home at last!"

"Any luck finding a job yet Chris?" Ana asked

"No, not yet!''

"I can look for a job too, you know?" said Ana.

"Anna! I want you to focus on school. You are getting a full scholarship at a very prestigious university. I don't want you to be distracted," She scolded.

"Yes, mom," Ana joked.

"Have you eaten anything yet?"

"Um, not yet! We don't have much"

"Then cereal it is for dinner again."

"Yum with tap water? Sounds like a 5-star meal," Ana replied. The girls laughed.

"Love you, sis. I don't know what I'd do without you"

"Love you too, sis. I'll call you every day. Don't have too much fun out there without me"

After dinner, Christina needed to do laundry. If living on the 4th floor of an old building with no elevator was bad. Now imagine lugging laundry up and down floor flights of stairs. The good thing about having a sister so close to your age was being able to share your clothes. Ana decided to stay home to complete her science project. Christina rolled her huge sack of dirty clothes down the stairs as Anna laughed, dodging the laundry bag of garments before it flattened her against a wall. She carried it on her back to the next block where the laundry mat was located. Bored out of her mind while waiting for her laundry to dry, Christina decided to call Susie, her best friend since elementary school.

"Hey, Sue!"

"Hi, Chris! How was the job search?"

"Depressing as always! We only have enough money saved from my previous job to hold us over a few more weeks."

"Don't worry, I can always lend you some money and you can always move into my idiotic brother's room after your sister moves out"

"Thanks but no thanks, Sue. You know I don't like to burden others with my problems. Your family has done so much for us already."

"Um well I have some good news and I have some bad news," Susie says

"Lord please don't let it be that bad" I murmured,

"The good news is that there might be a job for you."

"So what's the bad news?"

"That you don't have the experience and it's across the river in Manhattan."

Silence...

"Hello, you there?"

"Yes."

"Can you meet me at my house tomorrow afternoon? I'd rather tell you more in person."

 "Sure thing, Sue! Thanks again."

The next day...Susie and her mom, Sonia, brought her up to speed about the new job. Sonia recommended her as a replacement for the position she, herself held. Sonia had worked for the CEO and Founder of The Michael Wade Corp as his assistant for over 20 years. Mr. Wade's health was declining and Sonia had been scheduled to retire along with her boss. Mr. Wade's company specialized in database security, firewall protection against malware viruses, data bridges, cyberattacks, and extortions.

After Christina had spoken to Sonia about the company policy, and information, and had tweaked her resume a little, Christina decided to apply for the job.

"We only get one shot,"

Sussie said."Oh, stop! Who are you, Eminem?"

"You got to fake it till you make it girl"
