Trial by Fire

Fire

The very thing that can create or destroy

A necessity for all living beings

That's what I see

An ocean of Fire

Waves crashing into one another

Like two armies clashing for total domination

In the midst of the struggle, I see a gauntlet. The color crimson like blood. It held a kunai in its metal grasp. The blade was black. Blacker than obsidian. It was sharp. Like someone had taken good care of it.

" You are not ready. Not yet anyway"

I looked around to try and pinpoint the person speaking. As I scanned the horizon, I saw a person standing about 50 feet away. There was a man that had a suit on. It was black with a ember orange tie. The man had a orange mask on his face. His eyes were closed. He stood on the flames as if they were solid ground.

He opened his eyes. They were orange. No, wait, now they were red. No, they changed again now its yellow. It was like a fire was living in his eyes.   The man quickly threw something at me. It was a knife. But it was as if time slowed down. Not only that, but I could see the reflections of the flames thru the blade.

I couldn't move. I was mesmerized by how the blade looked as it flew thru the air. Next thing I know, time goes back to normal. The blade speeds back up and just as it's about to hit my head-

*gasp*

I opened my eyes to see my room. I look around to see if there was anyone there. As I scanned around I looked at the alarm clock next to me.

*6:00*

I stretched my body out as I slowly get out of bed. I walk over to my dresser. I pulled out today's clothes and went to take a shower. The warm water felt good on my skin.

'Damn, that was one crazy ass nightmare'

I finsh getting dressed and head down stairs. I'm greeted by my mother and father.

"Good morning issei!" My mother said.

"Morning kid." My father tiredly said.

"Still working those long nights dad?"

"Yup, but only for a little longer. I should be getting my promotion any day now!"

I smile and give him a thumbs up.

" breakfast is ready!" My mother yelled

Me and dad look at each other and ran to our spots. We both started banging our fists on the table.

"WE WANT FOOD! WE WANT FOOD! WE WANT FOOD!" We shouted

My mother brings us our plates. Each of the plates has a pile of fresh eggs, bacon dipped in syrup and a bunch of sausage logs stacked together like a log cabin.

Both my dad and me have drool coming out of our mouths. We snap out of our daze and look at each other with shit eating grins.

"3...2...1... GO"

*timeskip*

After eating and saying goodbye to my parents I start walking towards my school. Kouh academy.
Formally an all girl school, recently turned coed. But there's about a 3:1 girl/boy ratio. Most of the clubs and classrooms are led by girls. Most boys join for that reason.

As I'm walking I feel a chill creeping up my spine. As I look around I see a flash of white go behind a tree.

"Hello? I know your hiding behind the tree. You can come out now!" I yelled
