belittling can be depressing,
especially when you work hard,
and sometimes things aren't just enough,
to make you more than just a retard.

the world may be against you,
and you just want to curl up tight,
shut the windows, close the door,
away from everything bright.

in the darkness, there can be solace,
a calm that only you know,
another world, away from idealists,
that would soak up all your sorrow.

but maybe it's not the world that you hate,
maybe it's not those who tell you to do what's right,
maybe it's that voice in your head,
that seems to keep you up all night.

so turn your vision to you,
look at yourself from another's eyes,
maybe it's you that needs fixing,
maybe it's the dark side of you that needs to die.

────── i'll admit, this became (unintentionally) a little too deep. but maybe it was because at the time i wrote this, i was kind of going through a tough time. i was blaming everything and everyone and nothing seemed to go right. and then, one day, i had a sudden realization that hit me out of nowhere. after much struggle, i found light through the rubble of the impact.

and ten minutes later, this poem was born.
