It had been a week since I first walked into Krul's cell and I was in Krul's cell again, talking to her as I wanted to know her better so I could win her trust and hopefully convince her to surrender.
Krul: So Y/N...
Y/N: Yeah?
Krul: What do you do here?
Y/N: Well~. Other than being a student, I'm the assistant nurse for miss Nightingale, our school nurse. When we're out in the field, I take charge of being my company's medic. Although whenever I get the chance, I treat vampires that usually become POWs...but I rarely do it now since I realize that most will die here from either torture or starvation...Whenever I find a wounded vampire, I'll most likely give them coupe de grâce.
Krul: A mercy kill...
Y/N: Yeah. I don't like it, but it's better to be dead than tortured and slowly killed, right?
I frowned at the thought of the lives I could've saved if vampires were treated like actual people. Krul then tapped me on the shoulder.
Y/N: Yes?
Krul: Why?
Y/N: Why what?
Krul: Why do you help my wounded?
Y/N: Because it's what good people do...it's a medic's job to relieve somebody from their pain to the best of our ability... *looks away* Krul?
Krul: Yes?
Y/N: *looks at her with a sad smile* I'm sorry I wasn't able to help your wounded return back home to their families... I'm sorry for all the widowed wives and fatherless homes that now plague your city...
Krul looked at me with surprise but she then frowned with tears in her eyes and her eyes showed frustration.
Krul: I don't get it! Why do you care?! My people caused yours so much pain and agony! W-Why do you show so much compassion for the kind that wiped out at least 90% of your species?! All the humans I've seen are vile creatures that wouldn't think twice about forsaking another person's life to gain more power for themselves! W-Why are you so different?! WHY DO YOU CARE?!
I stared at her before giving her a gentle smile, before pulling out the Bible my mother gave me before she passed away.
Y/N: My mom gave me this Bible and every night, she would read me her favorite Bible verse. "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven." -Luke 6:37.
Krul looked at me, and I had tears swelling up in my eyes.
Y/N: Everyday in the morning, and everyday in the night... she read Luke 6:37 to me...had she not...when I watched her die at the hands of a vampire with blonde hair and in a white dress, I probably would've never become the person I am now. I would've been hellbent on slaughtering your kind...but that one verse? It was burned into me. Because of that verse, I became both a medic and a soldier. When I needed to fight, I would fight, but when others were there, I would put aside my weapons and don my angelic gear, Aceso's Bag. I made a vow to never kill unless my or the lives of my wounded brothers and sisters' lives were in danger. And when I treated a vampire for the first time, they looked at me and called me a savior. He then gave me this as thanks.
I then pulled out the necklace

Krul: It's beautiful...
Y/N: That's exactly what he said. He was an old vampire and said that he took it from a human he had killed and he felt guilt for his actions so he held onto it as a mark of his sins and that he would hold onto it until somebody of the human race forgave him for his wrongdoing. That person was me and when I told him I forgave him, he gave the most sincere smile and apology I ever heard and when he put the cross in my hands, he held my hand tightly and thanked me for freeing himself of his guilt...*sniffles* He passed away peacefully in my arms, becoming one with god again. It was then that I learned that no matter what species we are, we should be standing alongside each other, working hard to make the world a better place for the generations that continue our footsteps and legacies. That day, I felt God reach out to me to deliver that very message...
I then looked at Krul who silently stared at me.
Y/N: Heh heh. Sorry. I don't mean to rant...
Krul: Y/N...
Y/N: Yeah?
Krul: When I was still human, I was born to a family of nobility with my mother, father, and my brother, Ashera. I lived my childhood years with joy and bliss, but one day...it was all taken from me by angry townspeople who had burned down my home. I watched as they killed my mother before she could tell us to run...my brother and I were then sold into slavery, leaving me all alone In a dark cage for so long...I was scared and weak. We were then turned into vampires by the first progenitor, but after that, I never saw my brother again. Because of what happened and being left in that cold, empty cell that was only filled with dark, I grew disdainful for humans as they were the ones who caused my misery... Now that I'm stuck in a cell again, I assumed I was going to have to go through that miserable darkness and isolation again...but I was wrong...I then learned that it was much worse here as they tortured me...they even thought about raping me but thankfully decided against that...but that only brought about more agonizing torture. I was about to break and was about to beg them to execute me. Then, you came to my rescue and for a few days of seeing you, I thought of you as a friend, and I still do... but after your story...*tears up* I know I don't deserve it, but I'm sorry for unleashing my wrath, allowing other vampires to attack humanity. *starts crying* I'm sorry... I know I don't deserve forgiveness...but I'm begging you, just for me...at least once... say you forgive me.
Y/N: Look me in the eyes Krul.
Krul then looked me in the eyes and I watched as tears ran down her face.
