Kanade watched as the hospital's fluorescent lights flickered. Kanade didn't know what to expect when she got a call from the hospital. As soon as she heard her father was in an unstable condition, she ran as fast as her feeble body allowed her to. It was late, Kanade was tired and hungry, but she nervously clutched her hands as she awaited good news about his health. She had been waiting for a while now.

'What if this is his breaking point?'

Kanade had all sorts of intrusive thoughts at desperate times, especially when she was mentally drained. She was so lost in her mind that she didn't notice the sounds of footsteps approaching her.

'What if all the progress he has made with his memory is restarted once again?'

'What if he has fallen back into his coma?'

'What if...'

Possibilities circled her mind. The more situations she thought about, the more anxious she became. Her uneven nails started to dig into her skin subconsciously. She started hyperventilating at an unsteady pattern. Someone spoke, but in this trance of hers, she couldn't hear a thing.

"Hey? Are you okay!?"

A blond-haired boy shook her and she finally snapped out of the state she was in. Kanade looked at the hands that firmly held the sides of her shoulders before making eye contact with him. He voiced his concerns again.

"Do you need help?"

"...U- um no-"

"-Did I disturb you in any way? Sorry if I did-"

Kanade knew she probably sounded awkward but she couldn't help it. He cut her off before she could continue rambling and further embarrass herself.

"No- ah, is it fine if I sit here?"

The boy pointed towards the chair that was right next to her. She found no reason to decline his request.

"Of course."

They both sat in a comfortable silence before the boy started speaking again.

"Did you come here for someone?"

"Yeah, I came to see my father. He's in an unstable condition currently."

"Did you come here for someone?"

She repeated the question he had asked her out of curiosity.

"No, I'm here as volunteer. I signed up for volunteer work."

Kanade looked at his clothes.

'I guess he does look like a volunteer.'

She hadn't noticed it before, but his shirt had a tag before that said 'Tsukasa Tenma'.

"Tenma-kun, why'd you sign up anyways?"

He scratched the back of his ear as if he was embarrassed. He did this before responding.

"Hah, it's partly because I'd like to make people happy and help them out. (That's a stars job, obviously!) He said the last part proudly, putting his hand on his chest while making an exaggerated motion.

"-It's also because my sister was hospitalized for many years. She was just discharged a few months ago."

"Your sister?"

Kanade didn't know if it was impolite, but she wanted to know more.

"Yes! My little sister, Saki, the greatest person ever! Oh, did you know that she's in a band! It's called Leo/Need. I'm her number one fan! She plays very well..."
