One of Komi's earliest memories outside of her family.
Komi is a girl in elementary school where today was her first day. She was nervous, even if it was first grade.
By now, she silently parted ways with her parents, her mother tearing up but greet away happily that her little girl is going to school once more. Her father didn't show it in most of everyone's eyes but he was excited that Komi was coming back to school.
Once that was done, she was in class.
She was silent as a mouse.
She sat away from everyone that played and laughed in the classroom. It was only ten minutes before school actually begins and Komi wanted to explore, play, make friends...
...Yet she can't...
And it's all because she has a disorder...
That disorder is called Komyushou.
It is said that people with this condition tend to be unable to speak confidentially, at least that's one of the symptoms as Komi could only sit and watch with her wide dark violet eyes as her classmates were having fun.
...Having fun... without her...
She glances down at her lap as she waits for class to start.
...Squeak...
A chair in front of her pulls back.
She looks back up and finds a young boy.
Smiling, content, this boy was unusual to Komi as he had a bandage on his cheek. "Hi!" He greeted excitedly as the girl would stay silent and stare.
"My name is Y/n!"
"..."
"I like your black hair!"
"..."
"Do you want to play with me?"
"Eek!"
She lets out a small yelp from his question.
A request from something that Komi always wanted to do since she has arrived. But with her nervousness engulfing her fully, she blushes softly and turns away from the boy named Y/n.
"..."
All the boy did was smile, putting his hands under his chin as he leans forward to Komi.
"What's your name?"
Komi's eyes widens, something she hasn't done ever as today would be her first. This made her excited, glancing back at the boy and saying her name.
"Sh... Sh-Sho... Sho..."
She gets stuck on the first syllable of her name. Y/n awaited for her name with anticipation but he was only left with "Sho".
At this rate, Komi was redder. She glanced down, feeling down as she couldn't do a simple task that has to do with talking. She probably think that Y/n doesn't want to be her friend.
"Are you not good at talking?"
She nods softly.
"You can use the paper and pencil in front of you!"
Komi was confused.
She glances back at Y/n and her eyes would catch a stack of colored papers and pencils that Komi didn't see at first.
A great idea since Komi was really good at writing, she writes her name down neatly and hands it to the boy.
"...Shoo... Shouko... Komi..."
The young boy had a hard time reading but smiles once he pronounces Komi's full name right. "Nice to meet you, Komi! I'm Y/n L/n!"
He spells his name for Komi and giggles softly. Komi just stared at the boy for a second as she glances back down at the pencil and paper in front of her.
...This is... a good way to talk...
"Hey, Komi?"
She looks back up.
"...Do you want to be friends?"
Poomf!
A pair of imaginary cat ears appeared from her head, a sign from the girl that she was filled with excitement. She fumbled around her writing utensils, flustered and embarrassed until she finally writes her answer down in a chaotic style.
...Y/n was still able to read her answer and then smiles widely.
...Then the sounds of birds snaps her out of her trance.
