Multicolored converse and sneakers were piled up randomly by the door along with the five skateboards. Jennifer sat on a faded blue beanbag staring at her iPhone
while Lindsay sat in a green armchair, and Jack in the other matching one. Maddie sat on Matt's lap and everyone except Jennifer was talking. Lindsay noticed Jennifer's vacant expression and with one swift movement pulled Jennifer's phone from her busy fingers.
"What are you even doing on your phone? It's Friday and we are so bored, but you seem so preoccupied. What are you doing that's so much more interesting than your friends?" Lindsay asked scrolling down Jennifer's iMs.
"Hey, that's mine!" Jennifer whined trying to grasp the black iPhone.
"Relax, I won't send any messages. I just want to see what you were-" Lindsay stopped mid-sentence her blue eyes staring at the screen.
"What's wrong?" asked Maddie the worry in her voice made the boys uncomfortable although she was trying to conceal it.
"Umm, Jen, how long have you been iMing Amber137?" Lindsay asked with obvious concern in her usually soothing voice.
"Not too long why? Do you know her?" Jennifer asked casually but very confused too.
"You do know the story don't you Jen?" Maddie asked the concern now quite obvious, and her dirty blonde hair falling in wisps down onto her face.
"Umm what story?" Jennifer asked, so intrigued now that she rearranged herself and crossed her tanned legs.
"Wait the 137 Crystal Point story?" Jack asked with a glint in his coal black eyes. Jack was the only one out of everyone sitting in Jennifer's living room that knew this story and every other town myth or legend by heart.
"Well duh Jack. How many other Ambers do you know? Never mind just tell it please!" Lindsay asked eagerly.
"Fine. Ok so this was about seventeen years ago, and since we are only thirteen and fourteen it happened before we were born. There was this girl who was named Amber Johnson, and she was a totally normal girl. She moved here when she was fourteen like us and that's when the story begins..."
