1986 was his year truly. Eddie ‘The Freak’ Munson had finally graduated from Hawkins high school. A hellscape he rather calls it in his experience all those years of hiding away from the people around him. He finally had been freed from it all. Even if he had to repeat his senior year twice. But his first act as a newly graduated senior? Go bother his newly inhabited friend, former bully Steve ‘The Hair’ Harrington. Was this really a good plan? No...Not really but of course, nothing could stop the metalhead when he put his mind to being nothing but a nuisance to others. Steve Harrington was something new that stumbled into Eddie’s boring life. Yeah, they had been in the same year and Eddie was one of Harrington’s many victims in his high school life. They never fully talked to each other outside of it due to that. Which honestly makes sense. He always showed up to Steve’s house parties to try to earn some extra money. Yet something always intrigued the metalhead when he was far but close enough around Harrington to start catching onto things. The way he always made sure to comb his hair back before entering a room. The way he waffled his way through a speech about some history he knew Harrington properly didn't study for. Always butting heads with his teammate, practical rival Billy Hargrove on and off the court. The way his dimples would spread across that stupid face of his. It was abhorring. But it always drew Eddie towards him like he was stuck in some type of trance and couldn’t break free. Maybe it was because his charisma was so high- Ugh now’s not the time for Dnd Analogy.
Eddie quickly shook his head as he stood outside the video store. Why was he so nervous suddenly? 'I'm known for my big personality and I can't be seen swooning over King Steve.’ He mentally shouts clasping his hands on his reddened cheeks trying to calm his flushed face. ‘Pull yourself together Munson.’ He slowly took a breath shaking out his nerves before stepping into the store. The soft jingle of bells as the door opened. “Hey! Welcome- Oh hey Munson...Congrats by the way on your graduation! What are you doing around here though you should be celebrating not cooped up in this place.” Steve would speak from behind the counter he stood at wearing his tacky uniform he had to wear to work every day. This made Eddie smile; practically everything Steve did made him smile. “You really thought you could get rid of me that easy sweetheart?” He asked rhetorically. Eddie was prone to using pet names or joking names with his friends. Stating that ‘These names are much cooler than just Steve’. Steve always did the same thing when he would say something like this. Roll his eyes then cross his arms looking like a stern mother about to give a talk to their teenage son. “Aw. Come on Stevie, the whole crux of the reason you do not like it is because it's a ‘pet name’ you need to lighten up.” Eddie spoke again, not waiting for Steve to respond. He felt himself start to grin as he waited for Steve’s expression to shift and get the ‘stern’ talking to. But it never came. The only thing the man did was shake his head, a grin blooming on his face. “You are an abomination, Eddie Munson.” He spoke looking at Eddie with a soft smile knowing he truly didn't mean it.
