Ch.1 - Who's She?

Moving sucks. My dad got promoted from his job and had to move the entire family from Arizona all the way to California. It was hard saying goodbye to my best friend Max, we did everything together. She escorted me out to the car as I drove off to the airport.

I spent 17 whole years here in DC, and to leave behind my whole childhood and spend the last two years of high school without my friends was a tough pill to swallow.

We moved into our new lakefront house in California, it has a sick view with our own private doc and everything. We didn't have this in Arizona, so this was the only good thing That came out of moving.

My dad and my younger brother was driving up here with the rest of our stuff and my mom and I flew here to get some of the stuff we brought settled in.

We took a little break from unpacking and went to the local store to get groceries. There was a park beside the store so my mom told me to go and check it out.

I got to the park and went straight to the basketball courts where there was a pick-up game going on. They were high schoolers, some that were below average and some who were kinda good.

"Can I get on next?" I ask one of the boys playing
"Uhmmm no. You dont have the skill" the boy replied
"And how do you know that?" I said
"Cause you're a girl, and girls can't hoop" He replies
"Then why are you playing then?" I clap back

I hear oo's from his friends.

"You think you can hoop?" He asks
"Better than you yeah? In fact better than anyone on this court right now" I say
"Play me in a 1v1 then" he replies
"Alright. If I win, I need the respect I deserve and if you win, I give you $100" I said
"Easy money"

I play this guy in basketball and absolutely embarrassed him infront of everyone and gained his respect for me.

As I was about to leave the park, one of the people who was watching the game came up to me.

"Hey, you're really good at basketball"
"Thanks" I reply
"You new here?"
"Uh yeah, I just moved here from Arizona" I say
"Cool. My name's Tessa, you can call me Tess" she says
"Kai" I replay, shaking her hand with a slight smile
"So listen, school starts this Monday and one of my friends throws a sick party before school starts you should come, it's tomorrow" Tessa smiles
"Uhmm I don't think I can, I have to help my mom with the house and stuff" I reply
"Oh come on, she'll understand. I can introduce you to some people their so you can see a lot of familiar faces once school starts." She insists
"I'll think about it" I reply
"Well here's my number, text me if you're coming I'll come pick you up, we can go together"

I arrive at home and carry the groceries in. My mom noticed that I was looking kinda gloomy and told me if I was okay.

"You okay sweetie?" She asks

"Uh yeahh, just overwhelmed is all"

"I know this moving thing is a lot for you"

"It's not just that, I went over to the park and this girl invited me to a party tomorrow that's held before school starts and she wanted me to come"

"You should go, it'll help you not think about the house. I can take everything of everything, you go have fun" She said

"Are you sure mum?" I ask

"Yes I'm sure, I got this all taken care of" She replies

I text Tessa that I was gonna go.

*The Next Day*

It's 9pm and Tessa is going to be here in 5 minutes and I've probably changed a thousand times in the last 30 minutes deciding what to wear.

I finally decide on an outfit and Tessa texted me that she was outside. I go out and we head to the party.

We get there and now I knew why Tessa said it was going to be a huge party. It was a big ass mansion and I could hear the music from inside Tessa's car.

We got out and headed inside, we were greeted by Tessa's friend James, who is the one who threw the party. I get introduced to a few more people and was introduced to this girl, Sadie. I was instantly attracted to her, we only said Hi to eachother as Tessa rushed me over into the kitchen where I see people crowding around the kitchen table. They were starting to play spin the bottle with a little twist, who ever gets picked they go into the pantry and have 5 minutes to do whatever they wanted in there. Tessa, James, Sadie and a few other people joined in aswell.

"ALRIGHT ALRIGHT! RULES TO THE GAME, YOU  GET PICKED YOU GET IN THE PANTRY, NO EXCEPTIONS, IF YOU DONT DO IT YOU'RE A PUSSY FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR!" James shouted

Many spins later, I wasn't getting picked. People went in and out of the pantry with hickey's on their necks that wasn't their before they entered, smudges of lipstick on their faces, it was insane. I haven't experienced these kinda parties back in Arizona.

Next round of spin the bottle, I was hoping to get picked with that girl Sadie every time the bottle spun. I couldn't stop but to look at her that I didn't even noticed that I got picked until Tessa gave me a nudge.

"IT'S YOU KAI!" Tessa shouts

I got nervous as they spin the bottle again to see who I go in the pantry with. As the bottle slows down and comes to a stop, I look up to where the bottle points and see that it landed on Sadie.

A part of me had fireworks go off and the other was a nervous wreck. She looked at me with a nervous look. James escorts us to the pantry and we go in.

We look at eachother in awkward silence. Sadie rolls her eyes and crosses her arms with a loud sigh.

"Ugh I hate this stupid game" Said Sadie
"Then whyd you join?" I ask
"Cause James forced me to join, he's such an asshole" Said Sadie rolling her eyes
"Just saying, I'm not doing anything with you, im not into girls like that" Sadie said
"Uhh yeah okay" I replay

All of a sudden the lights shuts off. Sadie jumps and grabs my arm. She lets go once we went outside to see what was going on.

James with his phone flash shouted at us to go back inside because they we still had 3 minutes left.

"James the lights just went out" Sadie replied
"Soo?? The game must go on no matter the circumstances" James chuckles

Sadie and I go back to the pantry, pitch black can't see anything. I grab my phone and turn on my flash, my flash wasn't bright enough and I still could barely see anything. Sadie thought she heard something in the pantry and bumped into me, I hold her by the waistline, we could barely see eachothers faces but I can tell her face was right infront of me because she was breathing really intensely.

"Are you okay?" I ask
"Uhm yeah, I thought I heard something" she replied

Our faces were still centimetres away from eachother, I slowly bring my right hand up and lift her chin up, I pause for a couple seconds to see if she was going to push me away, but she didn't.

I lean in and our lips crash into eachother, I back her into the pantry wall as we continue to make out swaying our hips in rhythm, I move my hand down and grab a hold on to her ass as I start to kiss her neck. I can hear her moan into my ears turning me on even more.

As I was about to take off her shirt the lights went on and she jumped and looked at me, pushing me away. She swings the door open and pushes past the crowd in shock.

"Why'd she storm off? What did you guys do?!" James asks
I hesitate

"Nothing, she heard something in the pantry and got scared. Probably a mouse or something" I lied

The party was over and I was a little bit drunk, Tessa dropped me off at home and I went to sleep with a smile on my face.
