Tae and Namjoon are the sons of the chairman of Kims Group of companies, Kim Daehyun.

Kim Daehyun is an ambitious man. He's a full and full workaholic. The only thing running in his mind is profits, fame and success. His work is his first priority. Infact, the reason he married was to only have a heir and not to experience familial pleasures.

After getting married, he never once spent quality time with his wife. No dates, no movies, no candle lit dinner, nothing. He went to work early even before his wife woke up and came home late after his wife slept. Because of this his wife wanted to divorce him but before she could she found out that she was pregnant. She thought their kid would save their relationship and make Daehyun spend more time with her and their kid but she was so wrong. Once they found the gender, Daehyun was over the moon. Kim Daehyun has always wanted one of his sons to inherit the company and run it after him. When his wife asked the reason why he was so happy he replied with 'Because it's a boy and he can be the heir to my company.' His wife wasn't happy with this answer but she didn't say anything because she didn't want to know any more.

Since Daehyun already had the heir to his company, he didn't want any more kids but a few drinks resulted in their second kid, Kim Taehyung.

When Taehyung was in the womb, Daehyun suggested abortion to his wife but his wife not only disagreed with him but also was disappointed.

The hopes she had of her husband spending more time with the family all went to the drain because he didn't.

As Namjoon grew up, Daehyun and his wife was impressed by his impeccable IQ of 148. Due to this, Daehyun had no doubts that Namjoon would inherit the company.

From when Namjoon was 5, Daehyun took him daily to the company and explained him simple things about business for the little brain to store. But what Daehyun didn't know was Namjoon hated business administration. He hated those trips to the company so much to the point he pretended to have a fever one day, stomach ache the next day and so on but his father didn't catch on. So as a kid he had no other go but as he grew up he started talking back. He became rebellious. Because of this he and his father had a lot of arguments. His father tried to force him into it but Namjoon didn't have an IQ of 148 for nothing. Daehyun didn't expect Namjoon to turn up this way. He thought he had everything planned but it all came sliding down. That's when he remembered he had a second son who was obedient to the core. He was glad and thanked his wife in his mind for not agreeing with him to abort their second kid.

Since the day Taehyung was born, he was neglected by his father. Because back then Daehyun had his heir already decided. For Daehyun, Tae was just the second son who would do whatever he wants for all he cares. But Tae always yearned for his father 's love. He did everything he could do to get his father's attention but nothing worked.

Because of this he slowly formed a inferiority complex and started hating Namjoon.

So one day when his father wanted to talk with him he was so excited. Tae was 9 at that time.

This time, Daehyun didn't want to repeat the same mistake so he asked if Tae liked doing business.

No, he didn't.

Tae hated business just like his elder brother. Tae wanted to become a pediatrician just like his mom he looked up to. When he was getting neglected by his dad, his mom would always take him to the hospital with her after he comes from the school. He grew up watching his mom in work and wanted to be just like her but he lied to his father and said he likes business.

Reason?

For the love he was deprived of so many years from his father.

He thought that this would make his father prioritise him like how he did his elder brother.

He wanted his father to proudly brag about him to his friends and business partners.

Him and not Namjoon.

He wanted his father to praise him saying he did well.

Him and not Namjoon.

And he was ready to go to any extent for that even if it meant distancing himself from his mom and brother.

Because he knew that being with his mom would make him go soft and waver.

One day suddenly his wife asked for a divorce and the heartbreaking thing was Daehyun readily gave it instead of trying to convince her. But one thing he wasn't ready to give was the custody and parental rights of Taehyung.

His wife wanted both of her son's custody and parental rights. Because she knew what would happen if she left Tae with him. Unfortunately, even after fighting against her ex-husband in court for months she was only able to get Namjoon's custody and parental rights because Namjoon insisted he wanted to go with his mother. She was only able to get visiting rights on weekends with Tae.

Because of Tae insisting he wanted to go with his father.

It actually hurt her badly but she was understanding. She understood how Tae, a half grown teen looked at this situation.

All she wished was for Tae to not regret his decision in the future. Because she knew that regret and guilt are unpleasant emotions that would render a person of their happiness. She didn't want her winter bear to go through that excruciating pain.

Few years after her divorce she remarried. It was actually easy for her because of her good for nothing ex-husband. From a Kim, she turned to a Jeon and had a son. She and her husband named him Jungkook.

Chae-yeong got a loving husband and a son with him.

Namjoon got a loving, fatherly figure and a new brother to love, cherish and protect.

Tae got attention from his father that he was deprived of all these years just like he wanted but got no home he could return to though.
