ARIA'S POV

Imagine sitting for an hour and a half with a grumpy toddler in a room with only chairs, a table, a window and a door. You don't even have any information about why you're there. When it's close to hour number two, the door opens and two people walk in. The first is a police officer of about fifty years of age and behind him enters a young blonde woman in a suit and high heels. She looks like a social worker.

"It's going to be another 30 minutes or so before you can leave, and it would be really good if THAT would stop interfering with the work of our station." The officer uttered dryly, nodding his head towards Letty.

He shouldn't have said that. He damn well shouldn't have just said that. Call my daughter a THAT? I inhaled sharply and let go."I couldn't care less how my daughter does or doesn't disturb your station. The way I look at it, there's not even much she can disturb, because if someone actually worked here, they would at least tell me why I've been sitting here for two hours with a toddler whose teeth are growing in. The fact that it's hurting my daughter makes her grumpy, and when she's grumpy it really does little to make me run out of my last bit of patience."

I kept him pinned in place throughout my speech with nothing but my cold stare. The longer I looked at him, the more he looked like a little wreck of a cop.

"I'm sorry you weren't informed, this is Lacey Stone. She's the social worker that's been assigned to your case." The officer uttered, but it was obvious he was still not himself.

"My name is Lacey, as Officer Adams had already said. Your guardian unfortunately died in a car accident, I'm very sorry." She said, expecting some sort of reaction from me like crying or despair. But neither came. I didn't know the man at all, it was all on paper. I could be independent, no one bothered me, and he got a check every month for free.

"Okay, so what happens now? Do I get assigned a new guardian? Is that why I'm here?"

A bright smile appeared on Lacey's face. No, no, no. I know from personal experience that when social workers put on a face like that, they think they have the best news in the world, but when they say it, it's just the opposite. Don't let it be what I think. Please, please, please!

"We found your father and brothers. Your father is on his way here to pick you up."And that's what I thought. Of course, I knew about them and could have gone back to them, but I didn't want to. Well now no one will ask me and I'll have to spend time with family I didn't care about. Well, we'll see what comes of it, maybe it won't be so bad after all.

Lacey's phone rang and she went to answer it and left the room. When she returned ten minutes later, two men walked in with her. I recognized them immediately, Alessandro and Domenico Castellos - my father and brother. But they're not just my family, they're also Italian Mafia dons, one current and one former.

Alessandro's POV

When Domenico and I stopped our SUV in front of the police station in Los Angels, I called the social worker. She picked us up at the front desk and led us down the hallway to the room where we were to meet my beloved daughter. Domenico followed me excitedly, just as I couldn't wait for him to meet Aria again. The moment I walked into the room, and she turned towards us, I stood and stared at her. She was like the apple of her mother's eye, it was surreal. I cleared my throat and spoke to my daughter for the first time in fifteen years.

ARIA'S POV

"Hello sweetheart, I'm your father Alessandro, and this is your brother Domenico. We are so happy to have finally found you." His face was like a block of ice as he said this to me, but you could see the emotion and tenderness in his eyes. Right after that, though, came the question I had quite expected.

"I didn't know you had siblings." Father uttered, not looking entirely thrilled to have this infant in his home.

"That's not my sibling, that's my daughter." The moment I said that sentence, there was surprise and a little displeasure in my father and brother's eyes, but when my father looked at Letty curled up on my lap, a small smile appeared on his face.

"We need to get going, we'll stop by your house and let you pack your things and then we'll head straight to the airport." Domenico uttered as he and his father started to get up to leave.

"We don't have to stop at home, I have everything I need packed in my car and my friends will take care of the rest of the stuff in the house."

"Alright, in that case we'll go straight to the airport. Our car is this black SUV. Will you follow us in your car?" Dad asked and I saw Domenico looking around the parking lot, definitely trying to determine which car was mine. I must say he looked very surprised when I got into the new Bugatti model that hadn't officially gone on sale yet.

I put the sleeping Letty in her seat, got in and followed them to the airport and also to the next chapter of my life. Only time will tell if this chapter will be a happy one or not.
