A Start For Now

The morning had come and gone and Abby was at work now. It was a slow day, she was working alone. Something had come up and Cherrie couldn't come in that day. It was fine, the crowd was slow, but not agonizingly so.

9:01, Abby is closing the register. A person tries to open the glass door. It's closed. They tap on the glass.
Heaving a sigh Abby goes to check who it is:

The stranger waves and makes a pleading gesture, indicating for Abby to let them in.

As the stranger does so, the romantic part of Abby's brain can't help but imagine this being a meet-cute for a love story waiting to blossom if only she lets them in. Fully knowing she wasn't going to do anything regarding her attraction to the stranger, Abby decided to let them in, as food for delusional thought.

Unlocking the door she says "I'm afraid you're gonna have to be quick with your purchase, it's already past closing time."

"Thanks so much, I'm looking for Anne of Avonlea as silly as it may sound."

"Doesn't sound silly at all, although I know for sure we don't have it. Sold tha last copy yesterday."

"Oh, shame."

Abby Rhiya had done most things she wanted to accomplish for the day. She had done loaded the loundry before leaving for work, decided she didn't feel like writing anything as it has proved much harder than daydreaming a plot and she had eaten a full breakfast, as well as a healthy lunch. She was indeed feeling very good about herself and that may have been the reason for what followed:

"You know, I have a copy of Anne at home, I could lend it to you if you'd like. I'll bring it here with me tomorrow and you could take it until we get a new shippment in." As she spoke the words all she could think, was to congradulate hesrelf on not inviting this person, who could be a serial killer for all she knew, to follow her home and take the book that way. This meant she wasn't completely mental yet.

"Oh, I wouldn't want to bother you-"

"You wouldn't be. I wouldn't habe offered if I thought it bothersome."

"Well, in that case, I suppose I could cone by tommorow, don't really have any plans now do I?"

"I wouldn't know."

A/N: Some plot progression is happening and I am quite happy with this. Hopefully, it won't take another five months to start writing the next chapter. Happy new year.

As a side note, I am aware this is not pique writing and I would roast the shit out of myself if I were reading this as a thind person, but the goal here is to churn something out even if it's complete trash and if that takes using all the cliches then I'm here for it.
