Jinmi stares out at the mountains that hide the house in its bosom. The whole scenery is filled with verdant green trees and is rich with vibrant flowers – many of which she never saw in the mortal realm. The sound of the birds tinkled through the otherwise peaceful acreage. And the low hum of crickets and the backdrop of a flowing stream are beyond serene. Jinmi feels excited to know that this - sanctuary - is their new home together.
After their heady reunion kiss – which she hadn't wanted to end, Xufeng transported her here in what felt like mere minutes. Looking at the place now, her desire for him starts rising to a fever pitch. She drinks in his handsome face, that currently holds a touch of anxiety as he waits for her reaction to the most beautiful gift anyone has ever given her.
He raises an eyebrow, "Jinmi. Are you going to keep me waiting?" She stares at him, unable to process the magnitude of what he had done for her while she was in the mortal realm.
He slowly moves toward where she stands. "Well?" He asks again.
"Do you not like ---" Jinmi's lips smash firmly against his to stop him from saying anything else. When she sufficiently shocked him into silence. Her lips moved against his more gently, pressing more flirtatiously to tease him. She could feel his fire simmering under the surface.Pulling his lips away from her, he lances her with blazing almond eyes. Then suddenly, he takes control of the kiss - tenderly clutching the back of her head, he pulls her into him, angling his head to glaze the inside of her mouth with his tongue. She releases a tiny moan. Their kiss was enough to arouse him. Each time her mouth would open for him, and her tongue would glide against his. He imagined what it would be like to be inside her. It's been so long for them, and he was rock hard, but he didn't want to rush her.
"We're getting ahead of ourselves," he pants, with lips still lingering on hers. "I'm not doing anything." She jokingly scolds - hiding her giggle beneath a small palm.
"Control yourself, Phoenix." A wry smirk edges out the corners of his mouth. "I can't go further with our... um... passion until I transfer that psychic power to you."
Her eyes widen, "Why?" He clears his throat and grins. "I don't want to hurt you with my fire."
Jinmi blushes and shyly nods. "Ah! Okay then."Her eyes caress his face and then wander across her surroundings to descend onto the array of beautiful lanterns lining the garden entrance. She walks away from him to take a closer look and absently asks, "Do you want to do this now?"
He drags her back into his chest and turns her to meet his fiery gaze. "Yes, now. I cannot wait any longer."
The process of transference reminds Jinmi of a particular memory some thousands of years ago after Xufeng took her to Qiwu palace, and she masqueraded in the heavenly realm as his attendant. She stole the Dumpling King from him, which had 500 years of magical prowess, in exchange for her promise to make him a flower cake. She later found out that he had saved the Dumpling King for her! When she consumed the magical prowess, the feeling was a mixture of blissful exhilaration and revitalisation.
The transference between her and Xufeng was more intense than she could describe, heightened even more by the fact that he held her intimately when he transferred the psychic power."How are you feeling?" His concerned voice pulls Jinmi from her reverie, and she glances toward the beautiful demon king she had married many lifetimes ago.
"I feel amazing. I feel... like my old self again." Xufeng stalks closer – his eyes glint devilishly, matching his graceful and cat-like steps. When she was within his grasp, he spun her to face the window and snuck his arms around her midriff. She pants, immediately responding to his touch by arching into him.
He nuzzles her ear and whispers huskily, "I'd forgotten how responsive you are to me." She shivers in his arms. Changing the subject, she said. "Xufeng, I can't believe what you've created for us here. It is really special." Her eyes are earnest. "It reminds me of my old home in the floral realm. You have thought about me in everything you did here." Tears fill her eyes. "I've never felt more loved."
He squeezes her waist tightly. "You've not been absent from me, my love. I wouldn't have been able to prepare this for you if I believed you would not return. It kept me going."
She sighs and melts into his embrace. "Thank you so much, Xufeng."
His words had moved her, and she knew that underlying what he said were centuries-old pain that they both would need time to work through together. "Tell me what it's been like." She urges. "Have you only been here? Have you been safe?" The questions tumble out of her.
As if needing to create distance between them - he pulls away from her to sit on a wide padded seat across the room. She follows him and stands close by, waiting patiently for news of how he'd been.

FanfictionI loved the c-drama, "Ashes of Love", but I felt like the ending (though a happy one) didn't give me enough satisfaction as a viewer. I loved the plot so much but hated the barely-there or seemingly lacklustre kisses, (I know this is for universal a...
