(quick author's note again, most of this went quite a bit off script but I think it still turned out okay)

You woke up, groggy and confused. Not even seconds after, the familiar recorded voice announced- "Good morning. You have been in suspension for nine nine nine... nine nine ni- This courtesy call is to inform you that all test subjects should immediately vacate-"

"Hello? Anyone in there?" The announcer's voice was interrupted by... another voice? But this one didn't seem to be recorded. It was right outside your room's door.

"Helloooo?" It sounded like a masculine, British voice. You stood up and half-limped over to the short hall leading to your door. You took note of your sore leg, and assumed it was caused by being in your bed for... a lot of nines?

"Hello? Can- no?" You decided not to open the door, not sure if this person was talking to you or not. You waited, knowing that your door didn't have a lock, and that if they wanted to come in, they could open the door themselves.

"Are you going to open this door? Because it's fairly urgent," You finally decided that this person was, in fact, talking to you, and that you should open the door for them. You shuffled over to your door, and opened it. They were a core...? You hadn't seen one of those since the GLAdOS incident.

"Oh, just open th-" They finally noticed you, and they shot backwards about a foot on their management rail. "Oh! Hello! Didn't see you there," They slid forward into your room, turning to look at you. You closed the door and were surprised to notice that your leg no longer felt sore.

"So.. are you okay? Are- actually- actually don't answer that, I'm sure you're fine! There's plenty of time for you to recover, just... take it slow!" You just stared at the core, obviously confused. Recover from what?

Not even halfway into your thought process, you were, once again, interrupted by the announcer. "Please prepare for emergency evacuation," Emergency evacuation? Is that why the core was here?

"Um, ignore- ignore that! 'emergency evacuation,' that's what they're always saying! No need to panic just prepare, that's all they're saying, prepare," The robot- of which you were starting to wonder the name of, and why they decided to save you out of the most likely thousands of others in the facility- went up into a small square that opened up in the ceiling. "oh, and you might want to hold on. Just a word of advice, up to you."

(sorry for another shorter chapter, I just didn't know where to end this one other than here)
