As I walked Into my bedroom and plopped onto my bed, the tears started falling. How could my daddy do this to me? He knew me and Cortland hasn't slept around , he know this. Why is he acting like this? Towards me of all people. This isn't fair, life isn't fair. While in mid thought and almost falling Into another fit or tears , my phone started ringing playing 'One and Only' and I knew who it was so I picked up with no hesitations .

"Shay. Wassup?" Cortland said through the phone.

"Co-Co-Cortland. My da-da-daddy is keeping us ap-pa-part!"

"Woah, Shay. Stop crying. You sound like a bad record on repeat. Now, say that again. Your dad is doing what?"

"Cortland," I screamed into the phone,"my daddy is keeping us APART! I can't see you outside of our house or meetings."

"What? Why though?"

"Because when I came to see you during summer. I'm so mad Cortland."

"But Shay,damn. That's not cool."

Before answering him back I let out a sigh and pinched my nose. This isn't how this month was suppose to go not at all.

"Shay? Hello? You there?"

"Huh? Yeah yeah." I said snapped back to reality. "Cort, I miss you so much. This isn't fair."

"Damn baby, I know. I know. But look, you're still my best friend. We'll work this out. Aight?"

"But, Cort-"

"Don't but Cort me Shay, I'll see you. But, I gotta go. Stay strong ma."

When Shayanna said Bye Cort it made my heart sink 6 feet under. Why was her pops doing this? It was annoying as hell. The only way I could get a answer was to call him

"Hello Cortland, my star. How are you? King Kelly said after he picked up on the third ring.

"Nothing much Mr.K, been here and there. You?"

"I'm good Cortland. Very good at that."

"Yeah, so Mr.K," I said getting to the point,"what's up with this me and Shay thing? Like for real sir. You know it's nothing between us."

"Cortland," Mr.Kelly said after taking a deep breath," let me tell you something about Shay as you all call her, she's known as my ONLY child and you're my BIGGEST star. People will think negative of you two. I can have that Mr.Robinson. I hope you understand that. As long as her last name is Kelly and my blood runs through her, Shay is off markets. And as long as you're singed under Double K , you're not allowed to date or be seen physically with her out. It's not professional. Understood?"

"But King. You've known me forever."

"Donnalie , it's Mr.Kelly now, and yes, I have but it's my daughter we're talking about. My reputation included, you two are a no. Understood?"
