"Remember why we're here doctor"
"But sir, he's 3 years old"
"Let me tell you a little something about precognition, doctor"
"Yes sir"

Bright lights, eclipsed by 2 men.
Dan lied still, confused
He knew he wasn't 3 years old, what was he seeing?'

"This child could be our greatest asset, we need to keep him in this chamber and use his knowledge"
The words came from a gruff sounding, experienced looking man. Maybe military.

"He knows things, he can see the future, tell us child, what do you know?"

Dan heard only frightened whimpers.
Were there others like him? Maybe here in New Haven? He had to know.

"Nothing, bring his parents."

Two adults, a man and a woman, unfamiliar to Dan, were dragged into the room by armed men.

"Jake, listen to mummy, don't say anything, be a good boy for mummy" the woman said with a shaken voice.

"Listen to me child, do you love your mummy and daddy?" The gruff man interjected

The child nodded

"Then say something, anything"

The kid's mouth opened

"JAKE, NO!" The woman screamed

The military man adopted a blank expression.

"Kill them"

BANG! BANG!

The boy's parents fell to the ground, motionless and cold.

"All of them" the gruff man said, coldly and calmly.

One of the men approached the child, a gun raised to the kid's face.

Dan panicked, realising that his only means of learning more about himself, a 3 year old kid, was just condemned to die

BANG!

The bright lights instantly vanished.

The dim lights of Dan's room returned, shining through hazy eyes. Enveloped in a cold sweat, he threw off his covers and shot up, pacing his room. A multitude of questions flooded his mind. Who was that kid? What did those guys want with him? How long ago did all of this happen? Was it even real? A small part of him doubted that any of it really happened, but Dan also doubted himself. He frantically searched the web browser on his phone whilst getting ready for college, but he found nothing about the child, Jake. In fact, many related articles outright denied the possibility that anyone could have such precognitive abilities, claiming them to be a work of fiction. This in itself put doubt in Dan, as the closest thing he had come to a real premonition was a hallucination. Then he rounded the corner to walk down the road his college was on, and a sound made Dan break his attention away from the phone.......and onto the ambulance and fire truck that was parked outside his college. He had arrived later than all the other students, and therefore lived to see the sight of his fellow students being evacuated from the burning college. Dan was speechless, frozen in fear. Aurora was the first person he thought about, and he sprinted to the evacuation point to find her. "Rory! RORY! Shit." He couldn't find her. Then he felt a tug on his bag, and he swung around to see her, tears running down her face. The two embraced, comforting each other, until Dan remembered another detail. "Fuck!" He shouted, as he immediately sprinted into the school, heading straight to the hall. Then, his worst fears were realised. The students lay piled up, with petrol cans strewn across the floor. Atop the pile, Dan saw him. Jack. The two deranged engineers stared at Dan, igniting the pile again. Dan looked away, already sickened and terrified beyond belief. Dan heard the door swing open and ran, he had no choice. As he exited the school, a swat team entered. Dan slowed to a stop and hunched over, releasing the tears he fought so hard to keep in. He then released something else. He vomited, the image of what he just saw was burned into his mind. Aurora came and held him tightly, she knew he had seen something that no one else did that day. Two gunshots rang out over the campus, and two body bags were wheeled out of the doors and pronounced dead, along with several other body bags. Those were Dan's friends, and he would never see them again. College was suspended indefinitely, and Aurora took Dan back to hers. She didn't dare leave him alone. Meanwhile, countless questions were answered and asked inside Dan's mind. Yes. Precognition was a real thing, so now he had to find out who that kid was, why he was hunted, and why he was killed. Was he dangerous? Dan had to find out, fast. Aurora led Dan back to hers by the hand, embracing him every now and then. She said everything would be okay, but she didn't know what was going on.
