They opened their eyes and had no idea where they were.

It was early when the clouds gave their rain to the grass and trees. The wind sighed in the treetops. The morning was cold and wet with a howling wind. The sky was gray, the once gleaming, gold sun was covered by large clouds. Puddles grew larger as the rain grew intense. However, together they brought such a relieving sound, a characteristic song just as lovely as a mother's deep hum.

Our story starts with a young man on his way to school. His leg bounced, but he wasn't nervous. Instead he was filled with excitement, filled with anticipation, filled with curiosity. He held his bag closer to his chest. He looked out of the window of the car as if he was looking for something. He looked at the rain as it fell from the sky. He watched as the raindrops hit the window. He watched as people ran, trying to get out of the rain. His sister, in the driver's seat singing her favorite country songs. His niece, in her car seat brushing her doll's hair. As he looked out the window his niece let out a scream that caught him by surprise. He looked over to see why she was screaming. She had tears streaming down her face and she started to turn bright red. He looked down to see that her doll had fallen on the floor of the car. A faint smile grew on his face, and a small sigh escaped as he leaned over to grab the toy. When he looked up, his eyes grew wider as he saw it. His new school.

The building was smaller than the one he went to, back at home. The school had a few levels. There was a flagpole with an American flag that danced in the wind. He had moved from England a couple months ago. He doesn't really know why he moved but he now lives with his sister and niece in Kansas. The car pulled up in front of the school and he practically jumped out. "Catch you later." He says as he gets out of the car in a hurry. His sister could barely say anything before he ran off towards the school building, swinging his bag over his shoulder.

The boy runs towards the school not worried about the rain falling into his hair. Once he made it into the school, he pauses. There are students everywhere. There were bright colors everywhere, and everyone wore baggy clothes. There were cheerleaders and boys who were quite tall hanging around. Some kids wore all black clothing. Others with gaming systems. It was completely different from his school; The students then had gloomy grey uniforms and everyone seemed just as sad as the uniforms. Amazed, he wandered through the hallway. In a daze he didn't notice that students were rushing to class, he paid no mind to all the other kids shoving him. As he wandered, the school bell rang, making him jump. He pulled out his class schedule in a hurry, his first class was computer science. He ran towards his class before the bell rang again. The boy enters the class as the bell rings. He takes a deep breath of relief. He looks up to see a group of children all staring back at him. The boy decides to break the awkward silence.

"Hello, I'm new here. My name is Alexander Liddell, but you all are welcome to call me Alex. Pleasure to meet you all." He said with a smile on his face. Alexander had a strong English accent. His voice was charming and low. The students stared at him. The girls were wide-eyed and seemed to be attracted. The boys on the other hand, seemed annoyed by Alexander.

Alexander walked towards an empty seat in the middle of the room. The other students stared at him as he walked to his seat. Alexander got a little bashful, he wasn't used to all the attention he was receiving. He finally took a seat, just as the teacher walked into the classroom. Everyone finally took their eyes off of Alexander and was now staring at the teacher. The teacher was tall, and He seemed fit. His head was full of walnut- colored hair. Some of the girls made small squeals that somehow still filled the room. Alexander felt a little relieved since the awkward attention was no longer on him, but for a second he felt sorry for the teacher. As class went on Alexander still felt eyes on him but tried to ignore the feeling; but it soon grew overwhelming. Before he knew it class was over. Students rushed out of the door. He packed his things and went to his next class.

The day went on, and soon enough it was lunch time. As he walks towards the cafeteria, once again, caught in a daze he bumps into a student. He goes to apologize to whomever it was. He looked up to see a boy who appeared to be over six-feet-tall. Alexander's never seen a kid his age that tall; he thought the boy was one of the teachers. The boy wore a jersey with the numbers 'zero-one'.

"Hey watch where you're going." he says in a low rumbly voice, like thunder which sent shivers down Alexander's spine.

"My apologies, I was caught in a daze and wasn't paying attention. Sorry." He said with a forced and nervous grin.

The boy looked up and down at Alexander and huffed. He turns away from Alexander and joins his friends. Alexander lets out a relieved sigh and walks around the group towards the cafeteria. The cafeteria was packed, full of students. Everyone in cliques; One table had cheerleaders and jocks. As well as people who appeared to be doing more homework than eating. There was even a table with students from every clique. When Alexander finally got his lunch he looked over a sea of students and wondered where to sit. He wanted to avoid the jocks at all costs. He spotted a table with little to no people and decided to sit there. As Alexander ate his lunch a couple of students approach him.

"I've never seen you around before. What's your name stranger?" Says a girl, in a slightly high pitched voice.

"My Name's Alexander." He responds. His accent even caught these girls off guard. They stared wide eyed.

"Wow, your voice is beautiful! I've never heard anything like it!" Says one girl.

"Oh uh, Thank you." Alexander responds, slightly blushing. "What are all of your names?" He asks.

"My name is Miya." one of them said, trying to contain her excitement. Miya had a high pitched voice. She had wild brown hair that bounced whenever she moved.

"I'm Elizabeth...." Another said as if her words trailed off. Her voice was flat and quiet.

"Lea..." said the last girl. Her voice was high pitched like a child's. She even looked like a child, almost like an elementary kid.

"Pleasure to meet you all." Alexander said with a smile that seemed contagious, and drew the other girls to smile as well. They continued to eat and talk until lunch was over.

When the bell rang to go back to class the group went to their next class. They strolled to their next class, shoving their way past the sea of students. When they made it to their next class the teacher was writing on the board. The teacher looked over and smiled at the group standing in the doorway. When Alexander caught a glimpse of the teacher his first thought was how beautiful she was. Her skin was tan, her eyes were a beautiful hazel with a hint of green. Her brown hair glistened as the sun from the window touched it. Her lips were full and had a light pink color. She was thin and small, maybe five-feet tall. Alexander couldn't believe she was the teacher until she introduced herself.

"You must be Alexander. I'm Mrs. Hart. I'm your English teacher." She introduced. Her voice was sweet.

"Oh uh yes. I'm Alexander Liddell, pleasure to meet you." He said, a bit tongue tied. He tried to find his composure and speak clearly.

Mrs. Hart giggled as she watched Alexander fumble with his words. As Alexander was speaking with Mrs. Hart, he was shoved out of the way. He looked up to see who it was and it was the boy he ran into earlier.

"My apologies." He said mockingly. The boy and his fellow jocks laughed as they entered the room.

" You're such a jerk!" Miya said as the boy and his 'crew' walked to their seats, chuckling. Miya pouted and started to turn a little red. Alexander didn't worry about it; he just continued to walk toward the first empty seat, and the girls followed.

The bell rang for the last classes to go out. The day was over. Alexander said his goodbyes to the girls as they walked off together. Alexander went towards the locker rooms. He was staying for soccer practice. By the time he gets to the locker room, another kid walks out and bumps into him. Alexander turned to see who it was and to apologize. Before he could get words out the boy looks back and apologizes first. As Alexander watches the boy walk away a wave of other athletes storm out. Once Alexander notices he's alone he quickly changes. When Alexander finally makes it outside he sees a team of boys passing a soccer ball around. He walks toward the field where someone catches his eye.
