After the fight finished, Aizawa jumped into action. Upon determining that Gon was not in need of any medical assistance, he, Midoriya, and Todoroki were corralled out of the gym and in the direction of the dorms. Once in motion, Aizawa left them to take Bakugou to the nurse's office. The exhaustion from the battle ended up hitting him pretty quickly, although the teen vehemently denied needing to go. His complaints were promptly ignored by all parties involved and they were on their way.
On the way back, the three students took their time, each one caught up in their own thoughts.
Gon in particular was having a bit of a mental struggle. He had kept his promise to fight Bakugou, and even put in the effort not to hold back. That is... not hold back too much. As much as the teen may have wanted to battle him at his strongest, doing so would have ended up in the teen's accidental death. Gon may have had a good sense of control over his strength, but he was never one to pay all that much attention to others, and the effect he had on them. You could ask any of his friends, or enemies. So it was crucial he do so when fighting Bakugou, lest he end up like his usual opponents.
Besides, his full strength was catered to fights involving nen. Which meant if someone tried to defend against his attacks without using nen, they would either be shocked into a painful awakening or die. Because of this, Gon tried to keep himself limited to his regular, unenhanced abilities.
He did use gyo to protect himself from the explosions, considering they packed a lot more of a punch than he'd been expecting. They weren't as life threatening as the bombs Genthru used, but they were still pretty powerful. Powerful enough that it would have left some lasting damage had he not defended against them. But that was the only time he'd used nen during the match.
From what he could tell, the reason Bakugou wanted to fight him in the first place was to see how his strength matched up against Gon's. Maybe even use it as an opportunity to try to improve and learn. The goal in the end, was probably not to die. So if Gon held back a little bit, the teen probably wouldn't mind.
Not that he was going to confess to doing that and face his friend's uncontrollable rage. Some things are just better off unsaid. That saying seemed to apply to their friendship especially.
On a side note, it's not like Bakugou would even understand what nen was. It wasn't a concept that existed in this world, and Gon wasn't confident in his ability to explain it. The best he could manage was, 'life force that you can manipulate at will' but that was as far as his understanding truly reached. Knowing the details of how nen worked was more up Killua or Kurapika's alley.
Then, out of curiosity, his brain drifted to how he would go about explaining nen if he had to. A small crease formed between his brows, his brain scrambling for words he'd heard used but didn't quite know what they meant himself. It was then that a small tap to his shoulder jolted him out of his thoughts.
Turning his head to the side, Gon saw Midoriya on the farther side of the three, still in his own thoughts and muttering quietly to himself. In the middle of the two, Todoroki had his bi-colored gaze fixed to the boy.
"There was something I've been wanting to ask you," Todoroki said, his expression betraying no particular emotion.
"Hm? Yeah, what's up?" Gon asked lightly. The sound of voices caught Midoriya's attention, which was now focused on them.
"You-" The split haired teen paused, his gaze slipping over to Midoriya for a second before resting back on Gon. There was an odd look on his face that made the boy tilt his head slightly in question. "Are you and Midoriya secretly long lost brothers or something?"
"Eh?"
"Not this again."
"I've been wondering this since a while back, when you fought against Mirio. The feeling I got then was almost the same thing I get from Midoriya and All Might. Although with you, it's more..." Dangerous. Wild. It was a silly thought, though. "It's different, but not by too much. And you both look similar in appearance."
