What should I do?! Is there a way to get out of this? I hope that she's not actually here and her car is just here because she walked somewhere. I get out of the car, thanked Kristina, and started walking towards the door.

I prayed to God that she wasn't home. Just as I am about to get to the door she steps out. I stop in my tracks. Then I remember that Kristina is still here so I keep walking forward. She grabbed my arm and pulled me through the door and threw me on the ground. I hope Kristina saw that.

I saw Charlotte get out of my vehicle, and she looked completely terrified. I wonder why? Maybe she did bad on a test or something and thought her mom would be mad at her. I remember when we were younger and were really close friends. Her mom was so nice and sweet. I don't think I knew anyone nicer than her. She would let me come over whenever I wanted. She would make us food and take us places to do things together. Charlotte adored her mom but loved her dad a little more than her dad.

I'm sure her mom took it hard when Charlotte's father died and of course Charlotte's mom could tell that Charlotte loved him more than herself, that probably made it worse.

I hope Charlotte is alright her mom looked pissed off when I dropped her off. I saw her trip and fall. Maybe that was because of her mom? I don't know...she's probably fine.

I drove home after about five minutes of sitting in their driveway. I got home and went right to bed.

My mom dragged me from the entryway into the living room. She put a blanket out, probably so my blood wouldn't get on the carpet. She pulled me by one arm and threw me onto the blanket.

She started beating me. It wasn't that bad. Not as bad as normal, but it still hurt. She scratched my back with her nails and made me bleed. Good thing she put down a blanket

"HOW DARE YOU NOT BE HOME WHEN I ARRIVE HERE!" she screamed at me, while a vein popped out of her neck, "I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU THAT YOU AREN'T ALLOWED TO EVER GET RIDES WITH ANYONE! YOU ARE TOO DISGUSTING FOR ANYONE TO LIKE YOU!"

"I'm sorry m'am! I had a project for school and it had to be done outside of school."

"Are you, TALKING BACK TO ME?! YOU LITTLE SHIT. YOU THINK YOU CAN TALK TO ME LIKE THAT?!"

She then takes a butter knife and runs it down my back. It hurt so much but I have to get over it. She finally finishes and I am relieved that it is finally done.

She gets up and walks out the door as I lay on the ground for a while trying to get up the courage to get up and try and wash my wound. I decide to get up and head to the bathroom. I grab disinfectant and paper towels. At first it stings but after getting it cleaned it felt better.

Once it's cleaned I go to bed hopping that my mom wouldn't be home for a long time. I drifted to sleep.

I woke up and it was Saturday. At least I wouldn't have to deal with dumb people at school. Saturdays are what I live for because one; I don't have to deal with people from school, and two; I don't have to deal with mom.

I decided to walk to town with money I have collected and found on the ground to buy a coffee and donut. Every now and then I get to spoil myself  with these luxuries when my mom is gone.

I walked into the little restaurant, down the street, called Sunset Diner. I walked up to the counter and saw my favorite waitress.

As I came up to her, I looked at her and said, "Hi Darla! How are you doing?"

She looked up and smiled, "Hey sweetie, I'm good! How has your life been treatin ya?"

"Um... actually, Darla, life's been kinda bad lately. All people see are my clothes and what I look like. No one judges from how I act."

"Well I'm sorry to hear that sweetheart," she said putting her hand on my cheek.

"And mom hasn't lightened up any."

Darla knew about my situation at home because she was the only one I trusted to keep it a secret. I told her not to tell anyone because if the police didn't believe me and they told my mom I would be dead.

I sat down at the counter as Darla brought me my coffee and donut.

"Thanks," I said as I started eating the donut slowly.

Darla came back from helping a customer, "I wish I could help you but I don't want to break a promise."

"It's alright, I'll find a way out of it."

"I hope you do, I hate seeing you like this."

"Me too. Well, thank you Darla," I said as stood up to pay.

"No charge, sweetheart."

"Oh! No! That's all right! I can pay! I have money!" I said holding out the change.

"I think you should save it up for something important. Especially right now, when you have no one to take care of you, but you are taking care of the person who should be taking care of you."

"Aw... well, thanks," I said as I exited the diner.
