The following day I am sitting in the car after we grabbed some stuff for Eddie to survive for me to humm to music as we are travelling to Reefer Rick's place, "Not to be a wimp, but can I sit in the car? 'Cause this is gonna totally and royally suck." Robin says, knowing she is right about that because we kinder forgot about Eddie when we were investigating things at the Creel house, "It'll be fine." Nance says as I sit between Lucas and Max in the back seat with Steve and Dusty in the back back with the goods with them eating it a little bit, "I can't stand to see those dull eyes of Eddie's break again. I really, really can't." Robin says it is true about the eyes. They make me want to break in half because they are so sad. After all, he can't go out in the real world, "At least he can drink himself into feeling better." Steve says, holding up the six-pack while having a mouth full of chips for me to give him a look at that; not the time Steve, "That's what my mom does." Max says as I look at her, okay, sometimes adults can do what they please if they so wish but not drink themselves silly.

"Why don't we give it a trial? "Hey, Eddie. Uh, good news first this time." "We got you some Dustin-approved junk food and that six-pack you requested." "Oh yeah, and we found Vecna." "Bad news is that he's in that other, darker, much scarier dimension, and the gate's closed, so we have no way of getting to him." "He's entirely shut off to us, so basically, you're screwed." "And, no, I know you were already screwed, but now you're doubly, triply screwed." Robin explains, knowing that will not go too well with Eddie because then he will freak out more, and we will be back to square one again, "Wait. Maybe we don't put it like that." Lucas says as I nod, he is right about that. He will make Eddie upset, and we don't need that now because it would hurt to see him sad, "We're one step closer to finding Vecna." That's what we say. That's what's important." Nance puts into view our objective, with it seeming like that will be a better way to tell Eddie instead of Robin's way, "See, Robin? Positive spin can make all the difference." Steve says, still with a mouth full; when does he stop eating? It seemed like never; we were just in a haunted house. Why the hell does he have to eat now, "Uh-huh." Robin says, not sounding impressed with Steve's point of view on the subject, "Oh shit." Nance says as I lean forward; everyone sees police cars, news vans and other cars everywhere.

What the hell happened here, and where is Eddie? We all get out of the car for me to look at Nance. What are we going to do? We need to find out something, "Come on this way." she whispers as we sneak over near the news van. Powell is talking to the reporters about what has happened; it seems, "As many of you know, the Roane County line received a call a little after midnight reporting a homicide here on the lake. Officer Callahan here, and myself arrived first on the scene. We made our way to the shore of Lover's Lake, about ten yards from that house you see behind me. It was there that we found the victim, an 18-year-old senior from Hawkins High, Patrick McKinney. His limbs.....his body, it was disfigured... There was an eyewitness on the scene. We have also identified a person of interest. Eddie Munson." Powell explains, holding up the picture as I give Lucas a little look knowing he knew Patrick from basketball, which is even scarier. Still, they have now mentioned Eddie as the prime suspect in this case which is freaky, "We encourage anyone with information to please come forward." Powell continues as I watch, licking my lips. This is getting out of hand. We need to find out how to stop Vecna, and then we can take Eddie out of the spotlight.

"Oh, man. This is not good. Really not good." Steve says as we look at him and then back to Powell's report, with me gripping the side of the van with fear in my eyes, "You've got a lot of questions, and I'm going to answer as many as I can. Two o'clock at town hall, where anyone from the Hawkins community is welcome. But right now, I've got work to do, and I appreciate your understanding." Powell finishes to then walks off as I know that everyone wants answers to this bloody thing, "Is Eddie still in Hawkins?" the reporter asks as Powell walks away with Callahan giving the thumbs up for me to go wide-eyed. He is such an idiot, "Dustin, can you hear me? Wheeler? " we hear the walkie-talkie say as I look at it as we move away so no one sees us. Take it out and press the button, "Eddie. Holy shit. Are you okay?" Dusty says as he takes it from me to talk with Eddie as I stand near him, "Nah, man. Pretty...Pretty goddamn far from okay." Eddie answers as my blood pumps in my ears, happy he is safe or a little safer than being here where the police and the reporters are.
