Markovia Regional Hospital - Mid-Day
Violet POV:
My eyes opened slowly, looking around to make sure I was back in the real world. I'm not sure if that was a dream or not, but I was no longer tired and felt a newfound determination inside. I moved the chair I had been sitting in back to where I found it. My hand was still intertwined with Brion's, his breathing still shallow and skin still pale. "I hope this works because-." I stopped to look down at him. "-because I love you, Brion." As the words left my mouth all my auras combined, just as they did when the team defeated Granny Goodness.
The rainbow-colored aura filled the room with so much light any normal person would have needed to close their eyes. I felt my feet leave the ground for a few seconds, only for the auras to subside and my feet were then planted back on the floor. I looked down at Brion in anticipation. His skin was no longer pale and his breathing became normal. The machines next to his bed sparked up revealing his health was back to normal levels, for a meta-human anyway.
"Brion?" I said his name every so softly. He still did not wake up, however. Confused I looked at my hands. Maybe I did something wr-. My thoughts were abruptly stopped when Brion sat up in bed and started looking around, his eyes going wild. "A shooter! There's a shooter!" he said this a little louder but then looked around. The first thing his eyes landed on was me. His confused and scared expression changed to one of contentment and relief. "Violet." He barely got my name out as I grabbed him tightly in a hug, not wanting to let go. He hugged me back just as tight. We finally broke the hug but our faces stayed close together. Then I did something I never thought I would. I pulled him in close and kissed him. Soft at first but more passionately until we both had to stop for air.
I then said the three words that had been on my mind since Brion had gotten hurt. "I love you."
Brion POV:
I couldn't believe what I was hearing! Violet, my Violet, had just told me she loved me. My eyes widened and she became shy again. "I hope it was okay I said that I just-" Before she continued I pulled her back in and kissed her again, my hands wrapped around her waist and hers wrapped around my neck. I did not want to stop kissing her but we both parted as we took deep breaths. I set my forehead against hers. "I love you too." I didn't think her smile could get wider but it did. We both continued to smile at each other until we heard the door open.
Artemis came in followed by Connor, Dick, and Garfield. "We were in the lobby when we got a call about a light show in one of the rooms so-" she stopped dead after she saw Violet and me holding each other. "Oh my god."
"Hey Artemis, what's the hold-up? I got chips and snacks from the vending machine for Violet and -" Garfield stopped in his tracks too, dropping the food on the floor. "No way!" Before I knew it he had jumped on my bed and was hugging me. I was surprised, to say the least, but I happily hugged him back.
Connor, Dick, and Artemis continued to stand at the door in absolute disbelief. I saw Dick looking at my chest and realized there was a bandage over my heart. I pulled it off to reveal nothing. It was healed. No holes, no blood, no anything. "Didn't I get shot?" I asked questioningly. Everyone looked at Violet. She smiled shyly and then looked at me. "It's kind of a long story."
I listened intently as Violet described the aftermath of my getting shot, my chances of survival, and what the doctor said. The thing that blew my mind was her explanation of meeting the soul of the mother box as well as her giving up her immortality for me.
