Everyone gasped as they saw Francoeur on stage next to Lucille.
"Good evening!" Lucille began. "Welcome to the Rare bird! It's, so good to see you out tonight. We're, delighted to iterduce our brilliant new talent, the master of the guitar all the way from, somewhere else, the supreme virtuoso, Monsieur Francoeur!"
Lucille whispered something to them that Marie couldn't quite make out. Francoeur walked up to where the band was sitting. After a few more awkward seconds, they sat down.
They started playing something very different than what everyone had planned. Marie watched as Lucille started to sing. Soon Francoeur to joined in as Marie's cheeks turned red.
"Are they divine? Is it the wine?" Marie mumbled along.
Marie wanted to hop on stage and dance with Lucille so bad, but she knew that would be bad for business. But Francoeur was doing it! Wait, it was? The song was supposed to end by now!
Marie stopped thinking and started humming as Francoeur started singing. Their voice could melt anything, including Marie's heart.
From her backstage seat, Marie thought she was looking at angels, As they started dancing like the night would never end.
But the song did come to a close. Lucille walked over to Marie.
"What did you think?"
"You're truly an angel of the stage, mademoiselle."
"Please, just call me Lucille."
Just then Emile and Raoul walked backstage. Marie left them to do what they were going to do. And so alone she was again.
She wandered the streets of Paris long into the night. She caught herself singing Lucille's song. It didn't really matter, she'd never get with Lucille anyway.
Suddenly a very tall man with big hands stepped around a corner.
"Comitioner Maynott! What are you doing here?" Marie said nervously.
"There's a monster in Paris. Why aren't you at home?"
"Well, I was working late at the rare bird tonight. I-I didn't mean to be out so late!"
"How about I walk you home?"
"There's really no need..."
"Please, let me." The comitioner said while grabbing Marie's arm.
They walked all the way to Marie's apartment. Marie listened to the comitioner drone about Lucille and how that he was the option that Lucille had to choose in terms of picking a man and how he was going to be running for mayor and he would be the best mayor Paris would ever have.
"That was quite a story, comitioner!" Marie finally said.
"Put in the good word for me, will you?"
"I'll be sure to do that!" Marie said as she slammed her door behind her.
Marie sighed. She went to her little bed by the window. She looked up at the moon. She sighed again.
She sang Lucille's song one more time before drifting off to sleep.
