[SILVER RAYNE WILLIAMS]

I WATCHED as the measurements were taken for Vella's dress for a few more minutes, before allowing my attention to wander. It soon stopped on a magazine sprawled out beside me on the rather lush couch.

My fingers ached to touch, finally satisfied.

It was the first time I had held one of these, well, one that wasn't old, black and white, or torn and up to date.

The color in the fonts was vibrant as my eyes trailed over the headline.

THE DAWN OF THE CROWNS BALL

"News of the ball?"

I glanced up at my mother as she watched the seamstress take Vella's measurement in the center of the room.

Her eyes trailed over every detail, directing the woman.

"A little higher on the bust, please," she commented to the human seamstress.

For the life of me, I couldn't understand the fuss with these things.

I'm sure this castle had loads of dresses to give to Vella but no- new dresses had to be made. Perhaps I should be happy she was getting some new and undoubtedly expensive clothing.

I couldn't remember the last time we went shopping. Vella didn't seem to particularly mind the commotion around her, however, joking around with mom in hushed tones.

I sighed closing the magazine.

"Just gossip," I grunted getting up to my feet, eyes trailing to the half-opened door in curiosity.

Ever since we arrived yesterday, we hadn't been shown around the palace yet.

I guess it had to do with the ball this evening, everything was just too busy. Grey maids scrambled here and there, blue and red guards making their rounds.
