Her fingers patted against the insides of her jacket pockets as she walked. She pushed her eyebrows together and focused on the brunette ahead, staring curiously at each individual as they passed by. Noting how some men leered at her as she passed, Alex knew she didn't have to try too hard to guess what they were thinking about. If they didn't ogle shamelessly they would stare in a manner similar to Alex's. Possibly noting how pretty she was. Even she had to admit, Alex felt attraction pull at her insides the minute she laid eyes on Billie. But that was all she could tell before she was rushed out of the store.
Alex sighed in annoyance and willed her legs to keep walking. Where was Billie's goddamned car? She didn't even care. Not in the slightest. She just knew whatever stupid reason it is, it resulted in her walking behind this girl on a somewhat bustling Los Angeles street. She continued to observe the changing facial expressions of those around them. Each pair may be for a different reason but the brunette undoubtedly has most, if not all, eyes on her at some point. It doesn't seem to faze her, though. She just keeps her gaze forward and walks.
Maybe she thinks if she'll do that, she'll get home unbothered faster. The dumb thought made Alex's hands clench into tight fists underneath the fabric of her pants for a split-second. She breathed in slowly before releasing it as a airy laugh at herself, shaking her head.
Her laughter didn't last too long. Face switching back to curiosity at the sight of the man that was now walking behind Billie as well, she stared at his face. It looked cold, irritable. His dark eyes were glued on Billie, too, not forgetting to drag them slowly up her body. His hands were also balled in his pockets, Alex could notice whenever they clenched into fists. The similarity between the two made her pull them out and leave them at her sides as she walked beside him. The trio walked for a few more minutes, halfway through Billie pulled out her phone to check her directions, looking for any possible shortcuts. The atmosphere had changed. It didn't feel good. She just wanted to be home already. Any other thought was interrupted by a loud whistle coming from behind her. The natural blonde glanced behind her, looking back at the man Alex found herself surveying whilst missing Alex entirely. He smiled crookedly and waved, wiggling his fingers at her. Something about the gesture made her stomach turn.
Alex watched the obvious discomfort spread across the younger girls face while the man smiled even more at the reaction.
Billie glanced down at her phone while she walked, coming to a stop altogether as she read the words appear on her screen.
Take a right.
Blue eyes slowly pan to the right, revealing probably the darkest alleyway she's ever seen. It practically looked like an screaming invitation to be mugged, or worse. "You've gotta be kidding me." Going back to her phone, Billie quickly searched for any other paths she could take instead. This alleyway cut directly through the block. If she went around the surrounding buildings, it would add twenty whole minutes to her walk. Twenty minutes she could avoid by going through this alley. It's about to be seven-thirty, the sun was almost done setting in the hills. She groaned with a hand over her face before glancing around and finally followed the instruction.
Now it was Billie's turn to shove her hands into her jean pockets, holding the fabric in a death grip between her fingers in frustration before releasing methodically. Another loud whistle sounded behind her before bouncing off the walls and echoing off anything in its path. Before she could turn around she heard a voice, "Hey, gorgeous. Whatcha doin' out here after dark?" A deep voice that was a drastic change from the girl's in the coffee shop asked behind her. Billie's eyebrows pushed together as she glared back at him. "Because I'm allowed outside after dark." She spat and planted her feet on the ground. She watched the man laugh and wave his hands in front of him in false shock, "I'm just saying, cute thing like you..," He spoke slowly and started stepping towards her, making her step back in turn. "In a dark, dangerous area like this. You might run into some weird people." He licked his lips at her and smiled thinly.
