A few weeks later, after careful planning, progress and reluctance, Marcy finally decided to bring Anne over to the pumpkin carnival. Of course she overslept the day away, which meant that they wouldn't get to spend as much time together over there as they wanted."Is this carnival any good?" Anne asked curiously as they approached.
"You'll see..." Marcy mumbled.
The pair made their way towards the front gate. And the ticket woman glared at Marcy as she made her way to the gate.
"Hey! Beat it doofus! You ate all of our pumpkins last time!" she shouted at the sight of her. "Besides, this carnival is for couples only!"
Frowning, Anne took a step forwards. "Hey—
Marcy stopped her. "—Don't worry, I got this."
"Would this change your mind?" the scientist said as she pulled out and dumped a wad of cash on the counter.
Instantly, her hostility faded away. "Absolutely! Please, go right this way!"
Marcy nodded at Anne and walked in nonchalant, even though her partner was more shocked than anything, with her jaw dropping.
She looked amazed as she quickly looked behind and then back again. "Where'd you get all of that?"
"Being a scientist has its advantages no matter how many people think you're crazy," Marcy explained distantly, dusting her lab coat, although Anne could still make out a hint of sadness in her voice, which evidently made her frown.
Not wanting to dwell on it for too long, Marcy quickly changed the subject. "Anyway, what do you want to do?"
Anne started looking around as she didn't know what she wanted to do yet.
Once she did find something that caught her interest, her multicoloured eyes lit up. "Look, it's the tunnel of love!"
Almost at once, Marcy nodded at her suggestion, cautiously optimistic. "Good idea!"
Besides it's not like she could ever bring herself to say no to her...
Marcy stepped onto the boat, feeling it sway a little underneath. She stepped over, and held out her hand for Anne.
She took her hand, and stepped in hesitantly, feeling it sway a little in her enterance. They both sat down then, and Marcy let go of her hand after a moment, blushing a little. Soon afterwards, the ride started, and their little pumpkin boat entered into the dim, though quite romantic tunnel. Anne looked at the lightly domed tunnel with amazement as out was covered in neon pink and blue lights. While on the other hand Marcy was anxious as this being their first proper outing together. She would be lying if she didn't say that she looked beautiful under the lights.
Then all of a sudden, something started playing, and theee glowing, neon animatronic hybeenas suddenly popped out, out of nowhere.
"Welcome to the pumpkin carnival! Were you'll find a spooky delight!"
We are the ghost hybeenas and we'll be your hoist tonight!
Welcome to the tunnel of love, we're you get to play nice.
We're even customized to be your personal guide!
Who's that in the cart? Could it be, Marky Wu?"
"It's Marcy Wu!" she shouted, annoyed.
"We know who you are, Mar-Mar!
You ate our pumpkins last time!
