"Oh, look Pan, I wonder if Uncle Asriel gets this excited every time he goes north. I could really get use to this" All Lyra could see was fresh fallen snow, it looked so fluffy and soft, white and sparkly. To her left she could see her new guardian Mrs. Coulter just staring and taking in Lyra's excitement of being in the north.
"Lyra"
"Lyra"
"Lyra darling wake up"
Lyra woke up to Mrs. Coulter shaking her. "HEY, I was having the best dream"
Mrs. Coulter folds her arms and gives the child a little scold "Lyra you need to get up! I didn't hire you to sleep all day, you need to get dressed right now"
The girl ignoring her new guardian and just rolls over and went back to sleep. "I will not be raising a lazy child" the woman muttered under her breath. Next thing, Mrs. Coulter grabs the blanket in rage and flings it across the room.
"You will get up now Lyra. You have five minutes then we are leaving"
Lyra mutters something under her breath, too soft for Mrs. Coulters ears and heads straight to the bathroom to get dressed.
That five minutes turned into half an hour. Mrs. Coulter was lenient this time as it was her first night in the flat. Lyra had troubles with her hair and the dress that was picked out. Before Lyra moved in with her new guardian, Marisa had gone to a dress shop and bought some clothes not quite knowing the child's size. The one dress she loved ended up being a size too small, so Lyra had to go in her clothes she got while living at Jordan. This wasn't ideal for the fancy woman as they were going to one of the fanciest restaurants in London.
"Let me look at you" Lyra does a little twirl, looking half wild and half fancy. "I guess this will have to do till we can get you some proper clothes.
The pair rush out the building and into the car that had been waiting for them. Marisa Coulter is a person who is never late and if she is, it's always on purpose.
"I can't believe how late we are. Next time, I will leave without you" Marisa brushes out the wrinkles in her dress while the car zooms down the streets of London.
What felt like eternity to Marisa was only about ten-minutes for Lyra. "Finally! Come Lyra"
Taking in the sights around her, Lyra got excited when she saw the big sign above the building The Royal Arctic Institute. It's been a dream of Lyra's to visit this place to check out all the arachnological findings. The pair were seated at Mrs. Coulter's reserved table. A few waiters came running with menus in hand making sure the woman had everything she needed during her stay.
"Will it be the usual ma'am" one saidAnother closing the curtain as the brightness from the sun was hurting her eyes.
One noticed Lyra and had asked what she wanted. Not knowing all the fancy terms to all this food, the poor girl just stared at her menu and couldn't answer the man.
"She'll have what I usually have' piped up Mrs. Coulter
"Lovely madam. We will bring them out shortly" the head waiter said
Lyra couldn't help but look around the room spotting some famous people she's read about in books.
"Is that the Skraeling who mapped the currents of the Great Northern Ocean?" Mrs. Coulter turns around gives a bit of a wave and smiles "Hello Eliaser"
"You know him? That's so cool" Lyra said excitedly
Next thing their food arrived, and before they could enjoy their meals a man from the Magisterium approached the table.
