"Who is she?" I asked the girl seated next to me.
"That's Aamie Wilson",she replied.
I couldn't get my eyes off of her. The name Aamie Wilson echoed in my ear. Don't get me wrong, she was not a head turner of any sort or anything. She was a petit framed slim girl. She had light brown eyes and her sleek long hair cascaded down her shoulders. Her narrow face highlighted her sharp cheek and collar bones. She was laughing at something her lab partner was saying occasionally covering her lips with her long bony fingers. In all she was cute- I Guess not like I cared.
"I'm Brittany Snow, not like you asked. You're Aron Halters, right?" she asked tugging her hair behind her ear.
With absolutely no intention of getting to know her I replied with, " yes that's me, It's nice to meet you".
It's not like I was new in town, It was more like I was back in town. I had spent all my life living with my grandparents in a little town in England. I was much like all the other ordinary teens; 6'1", Fair toned, short brown hair, well build and an average football player. After my grandparents decided to finally pursue their lifelong dream of travelling the world together I was forced to come back and live with my ever-so-busy parents. My parents were local celebrities, not like it made any difference but since the son of the biggest socialites was back in town I became subject to occasional stares around the school and on the streets. I missed England. I missed my friends- not like I had too many but mostly, I missed coming home to my grandparents.
School was a bummer, It was the same old cycle - teacher walks in, teaches, leaves, students fool around and repeat. Back here, however, you needed to be a part of a "group" to fit in. It wasn't too hard for me to climb up the social ladder - thank you, mom and dad.
Two weeks in and I was already the talk of the town- I was attending the coolest parties, hanging out with the popular kids and what not. I became friends with this really amazing boy called Martin. He had brown hair that were always spiked up with excessive hair wax. He too was strong and buff but, He was a tad bit shorter than me. I was settling in just fine. Everything was amazing yet something seemed missing, but I didn't let it bother me too much.
Martin was in my biology class just like Aamie. I still hadn't spoken to her, not like I wanted. Maybe I did. She barely noticed me, but I liked stealing a few glances of her ever smiling face one in a while.
"Focus on you lab Aron", Martin snapped at me.
SHIT, I think Martin caught me staring.
" I'm just trying to avoid a parallax error " I replied trying to hide my faint blush.
"yeah right," he commented.
What was happening to me? FOCUS. FOCUS ARON I repeated to myself. All this was getting way too confusing. It wasn't like I hadn't liked a girl before. WHAT IS HAPPENING? I brushed the thought aside, finished my lab and walked to the lunch hall with Martin. Walking to the lunch hall and sitting by the popular table was an everyday trend now.
"hey, Aron" greeted Mandy.
I was so caught up in my own thoughts i hardly seemed to hear her.
" DUDE, MANDY. THE MANDY said hi to you and yore totally blowing her off" Martin whispered her ear.
"hey Mandy" i replied and caught a seat next to her.
"There's this really nice band that plays at the cafe every sunday. You should join us"
" yes" "yeah dude" "totally" " Yeah bro" a chorus of invites were thrown my way - Lisa, Toby, Cristiana, Martin and Tim everyone thought it was a good idea. Without giving it too much thought I gave it. It was just a band performance.
The bell rang and we all hurried back to our classes.
I happened passed by Aamie in the hallway, not like she knew me. Not like I knew her. To her, I was the new guy in town. To me, she was the girl in my biology class. Maybe.
