{Danica's POV}
(Flashback)

When I was 5 years old my boring old life changed but in the best way possible. My dad had just gotten an offer for a better-paying job in the city of Brookhaven. After accepting the offer, we quickly packed and were on the road by the end of the week.

It had just been my dad and me since I was born. My mother died during childbirth. Although I've never gotten to meet her I still felt like I knew her. Dad would tell me story after story of my mother and her wild adventures.

He would tell me howshe would get bored and jump in his truck. Telling him to just drive and explore the world. Or how she would sneak into his room at 3 am just to drag him out of bed to go sit on his roof and watch the stars.

Then there were other times when she would rope my dad into some out-of-the-box plan. Sometimes they would run into trouble. Dad always told me, that although my mother was a wild card she was the most loving and compassionate person he ever met. She would go out of her way to help someone in need. He also always told me I was a mini version of her and how grateful he had me.

After a half day of driving, we pulled down a cul de sac. The house in front of me was beautiful. It had 2 stories with a decent-sized front porch that was slightly wrapped onto the side. There was a bay window at the very front of the house. It was painted a kinda off white type color. It had somewhat of a small front yard but made up for it by having more yard space on the left side.

I had a good feeling about this house. The neighboring houses were all similar except for the house at the very end of the street. That one was much bigger and you could hardly see it from here due to it having a huge yard. The house itself was pushed further back on the property.

After my dad got out of the car he came around to unstrap me from my car seat. As soon as my feet hit the ground I felt like I was home.

“Welcome to our new home sunshine!” Dad said while walking towards the front of the house holding my hand.

As soon as the door was open I took off to explore. The first room I came upon was the living room. It was a cream color. On the front wall, there was a bay window with a bench built into it.

“Sweetheart, come with me upstairs and I'll show you your room” My dad called from the stairway.

I quickly rushed towards the stairs. He waved me up and we continued to the upstairs area. Once I got into the hallway, I immediately counted 4 different doors.

 The first door on my left was my dad's bedroom. I knew as I saw all the boxes labeled DAD on them. Next was his office as it also had boxes that were labeled. My Bedroom was right across the hall from his office.

 As soon as the door opened I gasped; it was beautiful. The walls were the color of the sky and had white wood trim. It had a queen-sized bed, a big dresser with a television on top of it, and a white fluffy rug in the middle.

 The walls were light blue and had white wood trim. It had a queen-sized bed and a big dresser with a flat-screen over it. There was a white fluffy rug in the middle of the room. But my favorite part was the bay window that looked out over the st.

 Walking over to it I sat down on the window seat. Staring out into the night a calming feeling fell over me. This place was definitely home. I had a good feeling about this place.

{Danica's POV}
(Present Time)

I pulled myself up into a sitting position, the chains rattling with my every movement. The room was bare except for the dirty old mattress I was sitting on. It was dark in some places of dirt and grim. It was also covered in dry blood stains and other fluids. Some of them were mine some of them not. My son lay peacefully asleep next to me. Roman was tiny for his age I worried that the conditions we were subjected to were the cause of his late development. Still there was nothing I could do to change it.
