(Hulloza Palloza! This is probably way longer than just a one-shot, but do I care? No. Anywhos, this one is for Brownie_Stars!! I hope you like it I'll try to do better in the future!!!)

                                                                                             *   ~ *

Old Corona was always a dull, calm place to live. The people who lived in Old Corona were used to this life and they enjoyed it. The most that really ever brought some life to the community was when the king made an announcement, a new person came into town, or they were holding a lantern festival for the lost princess.

On this specific day, not one, but two new people came into the town. Their names were Quirin, and Varian.

Now, of course the town was excited to have a little kid in the town, but Varian was a bit...Odd for a four-year-old. He was definitely cute of course; his front teeth were a bit big for his mouth and it made him talk with a cute little lisp, and he had chubby cheeks that were speckled with freckles against his milky white skin, he had big fluffy hair that seemed too big for his head, and he had big ol' baby blue eyes that could make anyone coo at the sight.

But you see, he wouldn't stop talking about science and he was so curious about anything and everything- And when he didn't get what he wants, or you were rude to him, he had much more than a handful of sass to throw at you.

                                                                                                  ~

But eight years past, people got used to Varian's presences and 'weirdness' about him. The boy got used to people giving him odd looks, ever since he moved, but they were never really mean to him. They just...Didn't understand him! Well, not all of them. You see, Varian found a little raccoon when he was eight years old, and he befriended it and named it. So ever since that day, Varian wasn't really alone.

                                                                                                   ~

"Ruddiger, it's finished!" The twelve-year-old smiled as he stood up from the chair in front of his workbench. In front of him was what Varian called "Armogan indicator", but since that was a bit of a handful to say, he changed it to "Weather500".

It looked like a steel kite with a steel string. The kite had panels on it, and the string was attached to a notepad to write down the weather. Varian placed the kite on a cart and wheeled it over to the middle of the town.

He cleared his throat "Ahem- Um- A-attention! - A-Attention everyone!" He said nervously as he waved his gloved hand, trying to get people to pay attention to him.

Luckily, he had gotten at least ten people to glance at him. So, he continued "This is called the Weather500" He gestured to the kite "a-and with the power of alchemy, I've invented it! This will change how we view the weather, forever! No more not knowing if it's going to rain on your outdoor party, no more not knowing if it won't rain for your picnic!" He said more confidently as he lifted a vile of grey-ish blue liquid.

"This is called Heronium. It is made with a mixture of helium and other natural gases and chemicals that I don't have the time to say. Uh- Basically, it is a mixture that will power up this machine for up to 8 hours at a time with only a tablespoon of this liquid." He said proudly. People gasped with what was either horror or wonder. The kids his age just rolled their eyes and said something along the lines of "Here he goes again."

Varian frowned slightly, feeling discouraged. But he kept going and began to pour the mixture into a hole inside the kite. A man called out "Shabbaroon!", which caught Varian's attention, accidently causing the boy to pour too much into the hole, but Varian didn't notice. He closed the cap and began to power up his invention.

When he lifted the kite into the sky, it made an awful grinding sound. The machine started shaking, and the liquid that was supposed to fill the tank of the kite started overflowing and spilling onto the ground.

The heat of the summer day made the spilled liquid bubble and fizz, which was enough to scare the people and they started yelling and running away. The kite fell to the ground with a deafening crash, and the liquid was slowly making its way to a vendor's stand which just so happened to be selling cleaning liquids and other home products which when it came in contact with the Heronium, it exploded.

Varian watched in horror in how everything had elasticated so quickly, his invention was gone, the towns people were scared, what was next?!

"He's a warlock!" An old man cried out as he pointed to Varian.

"He's going to implode our city!" A woman shrilled.

"He's a danger to our town and to our children!" The orange haired shoemaker yelled.

"I-I didn't mean to! Something went wrong I- I'm sorry! This wasn't meant to happen!" Varian said defensively. But the people didn't listen as always, and instead they crowded closer to him, making a circle. They spat out insults and pushed him around, pointing fingers accusingly at him.

"What is going on here?!" Xavier yelled. His voice practically booming. The people's eyes widened, and they all backed away. Xavier was usually a calm man, so when he was angry, you better stay away.

                                                                                           ~

Xavier went over to Varian, who was curled up on the floor. "Var-" The man started to say. "I don't want to hear it." The boy interrupted. He looked up to Xavier, recognizing the man. "Oh. Hi, Xaves." The preteen said with a guilty smile.

"You shouldn't believe them, you know." The dark-skinned man explained. "But it's true! I really am just a danger to the town and everything I do just...crumbles up and dies and- I really did calculate everything correctly! - Well, I thought I did..." The boy explained, blue eyes shining with tears.
"But you were brave when you tried. In fact, your father and I went through something similar when he and I were your age." Xavier explained calmly. "He did?" Varian asked.

"Indeed." The man chuckled "When we were younger, we would try to sell things like spoons and pencils we found on the ground. But people wouldn't buy them because the things we sold were either broken, rusted, or cracked. And me and your father didn't bother to fix them. So, we were always getting yelled at or discouraged. But we tried again, we learned from our mistakes, and that was how I learned about being a blacksmith, and how your father got into leadership."

"Well yeah, but what you were doing wasn't out of the ordinary. With me, it's like I'm showing them how to bring demons in your home or something. It's completely foreign to them and they all think I'm weird or bad or something." Varian frowned.

"Give them time to get used to it. Varian, you are very special, and sometimes people get jealous because they can't do what you can, so they take their anger out on you, to make you feel bad so that you can't do it. Sometimes people don't like change or new things and they react with anger. But all legends start with trials, tribulations, and error." The man smiled.

"Legends aren't true, neither is magic. I don't work with magic." Varian mused.

"Ah, but legends are from true roots." Xavier stated wisely.

"Thanks, Xaves." The boy smiled.

Xavier smiled warmly "Anytime, Varian."

"I should probably clean this up now." Varian smirked.

"You should."

"Will you help me?"

"No."

"XAVIER."

"I'm only joking."

(*dies* When I made this, I was trying to make it realistic, but I failed miserably. Especially with the alchemy part. It was very fun to make though!!!
