"Are you all packed up yet? You know your plane leaves in 4 hours right? You have to be there at least 2 hours early." yelled my best friend from the kitchen while making breakfast. "Gosh Sam I know, can you calm down. I finished packing yesterday evening." I said as i walked into the living room with my backpack in hand. "Alright alright, just making sure, there's no harm in that right?" i rolled my eyes and sat down at the kitchen table after pouring myself a cup of coffee.
"Where are you going to work anyway? You told me that you found a job but I never got any details." said Sam after making sure I had a full plate of eggs and sitting down herself. "They're shooting a new film in London and I get to be the second assistent director. You know, the assistent directors lefthand. It's a thriller so should be fun."
That's what I made myself think at least, I was pretty scared of taking this new step in my career. Moving to a whole new country, not knowing anyone there and just having to start at a new job. Those were all things that I had found difficult in the past. But we're not going to let those small things get in the way, this is good for me, for my future. And who knows, maybe I'll even run into a cute guy that I like. God knows I could use it.
"Do you know any of the people though? Maybe the director or any of the lead actors?" Sam said, looking me in the eye and sipping from her cup of coffee. "I honestly don't have a clue who I'm working with, the only thing they told me is that he's an Englishman. He acted in Die Hard and another movie, I think he played a painter in that one." Sam's eyes widened when she heard that. I looked at her with a frown and was just about to ask her why she was so shocked when she said: "Y/n, that's Alan Rickman." She waited for my response but I was deep in thought and when I finally realized she was right, my eyes widened even more than hers did and my jaw dropped.
"ALAN RICKMAN?! Sam, I can't work with Alan Rickman." I stood up from my chair and started pacing around the room. "Oh please y/n, yes you can, and you will. If you don't get on that plane I'll kill you." she blurted out, but I barely heard what she had just said. I have to go to London, to work with one of the best British actors, ever. I was already anxious about this whole thing, but THIS, no I can't do this. I'm going to make a fool out of myself, I just know, this can only go wrong. "Y/N! Stop stressing out oh my god. You can do this. You're good at what you do, one man isn't going to change that." Oh but he will. "I know, I know. I just have to process this. I mean Sam, it's Alan Rickman." I sat back down and finished my breakfast with Sam still giving me pep talks about how I could easily get this done.
---
"Alright, have you got everything?" I checked to see if I had all my bags one last time and nodded with a small smile. "I'm going to miss you, weirdo." Sam said after pulling me in for a hug. "I'll miss you too, freak." I broke off the hug and put on my backpack, grabbed my suitcases and started walking towards my plane after saying goodbye to Sam one more time.
It was really happening, moving to London. Not forever, but still for a long time. I kept thinking about how I was going to contain myself when I had to meet everyone, well, one man in particular. He was such a big inspiration to me, Die Hard is one of my all time favorite movies, and he played his part in that movie so well. I honestly don't know why I didn't get the hint that it was him the first time they told me. I wonder if he's as sweet as people make him out to be. They can be huge assh*les those actors.
During the rest of the plane ride I read through the script again and made notes for myself, but also for the others. I might have the chance to bring my ideas into this project, you never know. It seemed as if it only took 20 minutes to get there, because when we arrived a flight attendant had to tell me that we landed and almost everyone had exited the plane already. I didn't expect myself to be as focused as I was in that last hour.
They escorted me to my taxi when I had a hold of all my baggage and drove off to my temporary home. "Have you been to London before ma'am?" asked the taxi driver who was looking at me through the rear view mirror. It took me a while to answer, as I was admiring the city outside. "Oh sorry, no I haven't. This is my first time here." I smiled briefly after which I looked out the window again. It's really quite beautiful here.
When we arrived at the apartment there was already someone there waiting for me. "Y/n, hi. I'm Dan, your guide, if you will." He smiled kindly and held out his hand, waiting for me to shake it. "It's nice to meet you Dan. Thanks for helping me out." I shook his hand and we made our way up to the nice and cozy place that was now mine. I dropped my bags and immediately walked up to the window to check out the view, which did not disappoint me. "It's not much but from here you'll be able to easily reach the places that you have to visit a lot." Dan said as he stood beside me. "Oh no it's perfect. As long as I have a shower, kitchen and a bed, I'm satisfied." I walked back to my bags and walked towards a bedroom where I, again, dropped them on the floor. After which I leaped onto the bed and shut my eyes. "I'm sure you could use some rest. I'll call you when they're ready to meet you." Dan shut the door to the bedroom and soon after that I heard the front door close.
Well, it's official. I'm here.
