The triplets had decided to go out and spend the day at the mall. Brotherly bonding as Nick liked to call it. Matt said he needed to buy new T-shirts anyways and Chris needed new shorts. Nick wanted to look for some jewelry; maybe new earrings?

Once they arrived at the mall, Matt parked the car and they all got out, deciding to go get food first. They stopped at Burger King and found a table.

"Okay, what do you guys want so I can go order?" Nick asked his brothers who told him their orders.

Nick went over the the register and ordered their meals before returning to Matt and Chris. They spent most of their time eating and laughing, telling each other stories.

When they finished, they went off to a clothing store. Nick went to the jewelry aisle where he began looking for new accessories as Matt and Chris went to look for shorts for Chris. Nick was searching for a pair of silver earrings and a new hoop for his nose piercing, he was starting to get bored of his current one and thought it was time for a new one.

As he was searching, he could hear someone giggling near him but didn't think much of it at first until the giggles got slightly louder. He looked around and saw a small group of friends looking at him from afar; pointing and laughing.

Nick rolled his eyes and continued to look for the earrings he wanted. Maybe one with a snake? He then could hear what they were saying:

"Yeah, that's Nick Sturniolo. He's the gay one."

"Why would he be gay? Liking guys is so fucking weird!"

"Yeah, that's like not even a real thing."

"I bet he hits on any guy he sees."

Nick felt a pang of misery hit him. He knew that he should just ignore them, but for some reason he couldn't. He kept listing to their insults which continued and got harsher until he felt on the verge of tears.

As Nick walked away, unable to ignore their nasty remarks, he could hear them laughing louder at him which only made him walk faster, desperately searching for his brothers.

Nick spotted them at the shorts and pants aisle; Matt was helping Chris pick out a pair of shorts, holding two up to his brothers waist. When Nick found them, he practically gasped and ran over to them.

"Nick? What's wrong?" Matt asked, sensing his brothers perturbed demise.

Chris turned to face Nick. "Are you okay?"

Nick nodded in response, not wanting to speak as his voice clogged in his throat, chest heavy.

"Nick, what happened?" Matt asked again. He knew something was wrong, his brother was acting very strange.

Nick's vision clouded up as he spoke. "There were some guys making fun of me."

"What? Why?" Chris asked, dropping the shorts that were in his hands.

Nick didn't want to tell them. He knew they would get mad and protective; they always were when it came to that sensitive topic.

"Nick." Matt pressured.

Nick sighed as a tear slipped from his eyes. "'Cause I'm gay."

Chris could feel his anger rise rapidly. He began to walk in the direction that Nick came from. Matt stared at Nick for a second, a worried expression on both their faces, before running after Chris.

"Chris, calm down!" Matt said, grabbing Chris by his shirt.

"I just want to talk to them." Chris said, visibly fuming.

"Chris, it's fine. Let's just go and forget about it." Nick said, helping Matt calm him down.

Chris forced Matt's grip off of him before he spoke. "It's not fine, Nick. It's not fine at all. They shouldn't be saying that to you, or anyone who's gay."

Matt thought about what Chris said. "Yeah, he's got a point. Besides they made you cry so fuck them. Let's go, Chris."

Nick knew his brothers were impulsive, but he never knew it would go to this extent. Nevertheless, Nick still told them where he was when he saw the group and they went there but they seemed to have ran away. Chris and Matt refused to listen to Nick when he told them to forget about it and ended up searching the whole store, yet couldn't find them.

Chris was very upset. He couldn't believe people would hate his brother for being gay and make fun of him for it too. He sighed and turned to Nick.

"I'm sorry, Nick. I'm really sorry they said that to you. But you know that they're fucking wrong. You are valid. You're the most kindest and most funniest person ever. Anyone would be lucky to have you in their life. You're the best brother anyone could ask for."

Nick felt his eyes water again.

"Yeah you should know that you're literally the best person ever. Fuck them for making fun of you because they don't even know who you are. They're just jealous that you've got way more people loving and supporting you than they'd ever have." Matt added to Chris' comforting speech.

Nick let the tears spill again and hugged both his brothers. "Thank you so much guys. You're the best thing to ever happen in my life! I love you."

"We love you too." Chris and Matt said, returning the hug.

Moral of the story is that if Nick ever needed someone to beat haters for him, Chris and Matt would do it in a heartbeat; knowing that made Nick feel safe.
