Chapter: 4

I was in a carriage with Elaine and a dear old friend luca, I met them both at a ship where luca worked, he and Elaine were friends from when they were kids, Elaine wanted to see the royal family and when she heard the King and Queen and their daughter were going to travel in the ship where luca worked, she tagged along, and we three became friends ever since, 

"....-why aren't you doing it this time?.... Freya? Helloo?", Elaine said snapping her fingers in front of my face making me shake my head, "huh? Sorry, I zoned out, what were you saying?", I asked, "I was saying why aren't you going to the orfans this time? We both always go visit the orfanage", she said, 

Orfanage.... charity? Suddenly images started flashing through my mind or rather... memories... there were... kids laughing, i was at a old building, Elaine smiling at me, she was saying something,

I felt a piercing pain in my head then everything went black, I opened my eyes, I didn't even realize I shut them, I was on the ground, luca was towering over me, "Freya? Are you okay?", he asked, "What happened?", I asked as I sat up, I touched my cheeks... they were wet, did I cry?, "You suddenly fainted and tears were running down your cheeks!, we should go back, we can go to the city next time", Elaine insisted, I shook my head, 

"No, no I'm okay, it's alright I- I'm fine", I reassured, "Are you sure Freya, you seem a little shaken up", luca stated, "I'm fine!", I exclaimed, but suddenly regretted it seeing luca and Elaine's face, "sorry I just- I have alot of responsibilities and I get frustrated so easily nowadays, you know how much I hate being a queen", I mended, "it's okay, you don't have to explain, we get it, now come, we reached", Elaine mentioned, We got off the carriage, 

"Okay here you go, show these cards to the store owner and they will treat you right like they should a person and not some dirt from the village", I said as I gave them two cards, "thanks", they both smiled sheepishly, before going our separate ways, as far as I know, luca went to get supplies for his work while Elaine went to a flower shop, as for me, I have some business to deal with, I turned around a corner, following a small pathway between two shops, 

I stopped walking when I heard movement behind me, "Right on time", I said before turning around to see Mateo, Esmeray, Katherine and... Damien, "What can we say, we like to be punctual", Mateo smirked, "Hello Prince Damien, Glad you agreed to meet me", I said as I held out my hand for him to shake, "I'm honoured to have been noticed, Queen Freya", he said as he took my hand, "Katherine, please stay gaurd, if someone's coming, just whistle twice", Mateo ordered, Katherine nodded before scurrying off, 

"I'm sure Esme and Teo told you why you are here prince Damien", I stated, he nodded, "Good, but you are not in our group, you have yet to prove your worth", I pursed my lips, "And I will do just that", he said bored, "Your Majesty, Where is Cynthia? You didn't want her to come?", Esme asked, "I did, but she said she couldn't make it, she was busy, oh and esme, jaffron has been doing a terrible job indeed but I found out my 'my friend' Elaine knows where it is", I mentioned, 

She nodded telling me to countinue, "I will take care of her but I have a new target for jaffron and I don't think he is the right person to ask so what better way to prove your worth prince Damien than you avenging my mother's death?", I raised my eyebrow at him waiting for a reply, "What do you need me to do?", he asked, interesting choice of words, I noted, "Kill a select few people from this city, I will give you the names later", I told, 

"Your highness, if I may, can I ask you a question?", he asked, "you already d-", I started but esme gave me a pointed look, I sighed before nodding, "Why do you hate your people this much?", he queried, I bit my lip, "I don't hate my people, they just have something that's mine, I had jaffron, question people from the village that knows where the b- the thing might be, but they refused to give in, I had to kill them after, they can't live after they find out who threatened them, but Elaine knows where it is and I know exactly how I can get the information out of her", I said, 

"but why did the villagers kill your parents?", Damien asked, I was waiting for that question, too many times I have been asked this that it would be weird if they didn't ask every time I recruited someone new, "Well, they didn't, you see, the people from the city wanted a new queen, they hated my mother, she wasn't from a royal family, she wasn't even from the city, she was born and raised in the village", 

"They wanted my father to marry someone from a royal family, so they killed my mum and that's when my step- sister's mother came in, Margaret, my father fell in love with her and the city was pleased, after Margaret was married to my father, avyanna my step sister became the queen of Meiling, while Margaret the Queen of Ellesmere, a few months later my father and Margaret had to go to Vadronia to make alliances with them but they didn't return, a day later, I found out, they were murdered... and then I was made queen", I told as if I had byhearted this,

"how do you know this is true?", damien asked, "I have a way of getting information", I smiled, "okay, so you want me to kill the people who killed your mother", Damien stated, "yes", I replied, "What about your father?", damien asked, "I will tell you once you finished the job, but now I have to go, prove to me prince Damien and we will work together to make this world a better place, after all this is done, the shits going to get alot more personal trust me, this is just the beginning", I said before disappearing into the crowed streets, 

when Katherine stood infront of me, "What is it princess Katherine?", I asked, "Your friend, luca is searching for you, he's coming right this way, here take this, tell him you were in the bookshop", she shoved the book in my hands and blended in with the crowds without another word, I took a look at the title, Alice in the wonderland, Katherine's favourite book, when I tore my gaze from the book, I saw luca standing infront of me, 

"Finally, there you are! I was looking for you everywhere! Where were you?", he exclaimed, "oh I was in the bookshop", I lied as I held up the book Katherine lent me, "oh ok, come, let's go find Elaine., I bet we can find her in the flower shop", he said before dragging me through the crowd.
