Vero and Harry sit under a tree by the Black leak as a young lad wades through the water barefoot with his pants rolled up. He has a round face, short brunette hair, and chocolate-colored eyes. The lad smiles joyfully while filling a jar with plants from the lake. "Careful, Neville Grindylow larval's are hatching around this month. I wouldn't want you to lose a toe," Vero said, causing Neville to jump out of the water.
"Why didn't you say that before I got in?!" he asked in disbelief.
Vero sighs, "Seriously, am I the only one who pays attention in Magizoology class?" she asked in annoyance, making Neville look sheepish.
"What are Grindylows?" Harry asked in confusion. Vero shook her head and pulled out her book on magical creatures from her satchel. She opens it, turns a few pages, then suddenly stops on one and points at a picture of a small squid-like animal with horns, pale-green skin, green teeth, and long, strong fingers. "That's in the lake?!" Harry asked, utterly shocked.
"That's one thing that lives in this lake. There are many more, but I'm more worried about the dragon's father warned me about this morning. There were several, so I'm sure they will have you each choose one at random," Vero explained as she flipped through the pages of her book again.
Harry looks at her in disbelief, "Dragons? That's the first task? You're joking," he said.
"This tournament isn't for the faint of heart, Harry. Many have died seeking its glory like the Roman gladiators," Vero said with a serious tone.
Harry rubs his hands together nervously, "But you can help, right?" he asked.
"I can arm you with the knowledge, but it's up to you on how you use it. Now from what father told me, they have a Hungarian Horntail, the Chinese Fireball, the Swedish Short-Snout, and a Welsh Green....pray you don't get the Horntail," Vero said as she showed a picture of each dragon.
"If I do?" Harry asked.
"Then you better pray because out of all the dragons in our world, the Hungarian Horntail is one of the most dangerous of the dragon breeds. Its flame can reach about fifty feet. Its breath alone can reach extremely high temperatures and turn a stone red hot in seconds. And if that's not bad enough, its favorite food source is humans," Vero explained, causing fear to fill Harry.
"How do you beat it?" he asked.
"That's the tricky part of it all, but from what father told me, you just have to take what it's guarding but Harry, do not for any reason at all take to the sky. Horntails are extremely fast in the air. They are capable of going from zero to one hundred and fifty miles per hour in ten seconds," Vero explained.
The next day Vero runs through the halls of Hogwarts looking for Harry when she hears Draco's voice. "Why so tense, Potter? My father and I have a bet, you see. I don't think you're gonna last ten minutes in this tournament. He disagrees. He thinks you won't last five," he said with a laugh as he jumped from the tree in the courtyard. Draco has a slender figure with sleek white-blond hair, cold grey eyes, a pale complexion, and rather sharp, pointed features. Many of the girls in Hogwarts had a crush on him though Vero didn't see why he had a horrible personality.
