Vero runs around the grounds of Hogwarts in her school uniform. As she reaches a dock, a large ship emerges from under the water and approaches the port. Vero stares up at the ship in awe as it docks next to her. Minutes later, Vero leads the sons of Durmstrang and the high master Igor Karkaroff to Hogwarts dining hall. "And now, our friends from the north, please greet the proud sons of Durmstrang and the high master Igor Karkaroff," Dumbledore announced as Vero sneaked into the hall and sat next to Ginny, who smiled at the sight of her. Suddenly a series of older boys walk into the dining hall and up the aisle brandishing bow staffs, twirling them around and periodically stabbing them into the ground, causing a spark. Some boys run towards the front of the dining hall doing flips and other acrobatics.

Krum strides into the room as if he owned it with high master Igor karkaroff at his side. "It's Krum," the students whispered in awe.

"Blimey it's him, Viktor Krum!" Ron said in disbelief as he watched Krum walks by. The boys at the front of the hall breathe fire in the form of a Phoenix.

Once the fire is gone, Igor strides toward Dumbledore, "Albus!" he says as he embraces Dumbledore.

"Igor," Dumbledore greeted happily. Not long after the announcements, dinner was served, and everyone ate and conversed. Vero mostly listened to Ginny talk about her summer or about the plans the twins had for new pranks this year. But the whole time, Vero could feel Barty's eyes on her, making it hard for her to relax.

"Vero?" Ginny called out, catching the brunette's attention. "Why do you wear the boy's uniforms?" she asked.

Vero couldn't help but grow nervous by the question, "Well...um, I was born intersex," she explained, but confusion filled Ginny's eyes. Vero leaned over and whispered something in Ginny's ear, and the confusion in her eyes turned into surprise.

"Really?" she asked, causing Vero to nod her head, but Ginny noticed how Vero rubbed her hands nervously. She lays her hands over Vero's, "Thank you for trusting me enough to tell me. I promise I won't tell anyone. What kind of friend would I be if I did?" Ginny asked. Vero looks at Ginny in surprise when she implies they were friends. Vero couldn't help but smile. She finally had a real friend. Four men walk into the dining hall carrying a colossal object. They move it to the headmaster's platform, then gently set it down and walk away.

Dumbledore walks onto the platform, "Your attention, please! I would like to say a few words. Eternal glory that is what awaits the student who wins the tri-wizard tournament. But to do this, that student must survive three tasks. Three extremely dangerous tasks," he explained.

"Wicked," Fred and George said simultaneously.

"For this reason, the ministry has seen fit to impose a new rule. To explain all this, we have the head of the department of international magic cooperation Mister Bartimus Crouch," Dumbledore explained as Barty stood and moved around the table. Vero notices a figure lurking by a side door. Out of know, where Thunder roars overhead, rain begins leaking through the roof and screams break out. The stranger Vero had noticed stands in the doorway, casts some magic upwards, and the storm disappears. Now that the man was out of the shadows, Vero could get a better look at him. The man's face looked roughly carved from wood and covered with scars. A chunk of his nose was missing. He had bright blonde, grizzled hair that reached his shoulders. What stuck out the most about this man was his eyes. One was small and dark, while the other was a vivid, electric blue magical eye that moved around independently from his normal eye.
