"Get back Nick!"
"My name is not Nick, it's Nicole!" I shouted to my brother. "Mom, my brother called me Nick again!"
"Brian, I told you so many times, don't call your sister Nick!" "But she dresses like a boy!" "Enough!", Dad said, "Both go to your room..." I didn't want to go to my room but we didn't have a choice. I really love my parents but there is a lack of communication in this house... Well, all families have their problems. "John?" "Yes, Cheryl." "Sometimes I think that we should communicate more with our children... I mean you can't always send them to their rooms. They are teenagers not five-year-olds." "Cheryl, I think you're overthinking again... we're trying enough, you know that, and no parent is perfect." Cheryl looked down and sighed. Her parents are quite rejective and dismissive, so Cheryl's anxious love pattern led her to marry my dad John. My dad is a good person but also dismissive because his family background is quite unhealthy... And sometimes I wonder how Brian and I will be as parents because I don't want to be like my parents. I guess my parents may have thought those things too when they were young because they're not like my grandparents. Well, I don't have significant bonds with my grandparents from both sides but it's okay. I mean, I have supportive parents even with their drawbacks and a loving brother -even if he teases me- and I have a bunch of good friends too. I have two best friends, Laura and Kate. They're both very kind and loving and beautiful. They also have boyfriends, both of them. I don't have a boyfriend yet, but to be honest I don't really want to have one right now. Sometimes, some of my classmates at school say that my style is boyish because I like to wear baggy clothes and jeans. But, I prefer to be comfortable. Plus, I don't like "girly" music. I really like listening to Megadeth, Slipknot and Iron Maiden . I actually don't understand why there is "girly" and "boyish" music. I mean, it's just music. Anyone can listen to whatever they want. Anyway, so... I'm here in my room and studying for tomorrow's test. I study hard to become an architect. At school, people consider me a nerd, but that has never been a problem to me, because I consider myself a bookworm too and I don't think it's bad. Actually I think it's pretty cool. I can't wait to go to college to live free and be independent. While I was studying my phone ringed. It was Kate. "Girl are you home?" "Yes, why?" "Could you please come over? I have something to tell you. Bring your homework, we could study together too." So, I took my things in my backpack and left my room. "Mom, Dad, I'm going to Kate's to study." "Honey, be home by 10:00 p.m." mom said. "Okay, bye!" Kate's house is close to mine and Laura's. We are neighbors, the three of us, and we've been friends since we were babies because our parents know each other.
