I bolt up, drenched in sweat to the sound of my alarm. I turn it off and remember my dream. I shake it off, wondering what it meant but it doesn't bother me after that. I drag myself to the shower, soaking my body in Katy Perry Killer Queen shower lotion. I rinse off and dry off. I pull on my uniform, and rush downstairs.
By the time I'm at school, Jamie-Leigh is already there, which is surprising. "Hey, Nina." She says, grinning.
"Hey," I respond, "How's Khalil?"
"Ugh." She replied in disgust, "I broke up with him because... because I told him my secret." Jamie-Leigh bites down on her lip. I lean in to hug her. She's my best friend, and I don't like to see her upset. Jamie-Leigh starts crying into my shoulder. "What's you're secret?" I ask her, "You can tell me anything. We've been best friends since year seven." Jamie-Leigh whispers ever so quietly in my ear, "I'm bisexual... and I've been feeling this way for quite some time. I just didn't want to tell anyone because I thought that they would be disappointed. But the first person I told was Khalil, and he was just... disgusted." She sobs even harder. I straighten her shoulders and shake her. "Look, Jamie," I say, "You should open up to everyone, Khalil is just a twat who doesn't know what's good for him." Jamie-Leigh smiles at me. She walks away, and a few moments later the bell rings.
And that's when I see him.I sit in bed that night, wondering who that boy was. All I can remember is that I fell in love with him instantly. I drift off to sleep and have a dream...
I am wearing a long blue, satin dress with a gold belt hooked around my waist. I look beautiful. And then I see a boy. He is the same boy from last night's dream, and his blue eyes seem to pierce into my soul. He is wearing a shirt, bow tie, suit trousers and black high top converse. We are dancing together in a ballroom, but it's a different one from last time. Mina is smiling and dancing with another guy next to us. We are all happy, and then everyone disappears.
That's everyone except Mina and I.
There is an eerie silence, which Mina breaks. "You have a choice. Me or you," she says. I have no clue what she's talking about, so I just say, "You." A bullet comes flying from nowhere, and goes straight to Mina. But before it hits her, it hits me. But I don't die. I just turn into a shadow.I have no idea what this dream means. When I wake up and look at the time, it's 11.47. I stare up at the ceiling, but just before I fall asleep, I notice who the boy in my dreams is.
It's the new boy at school.
