The Awakening

1.5K 20 6

An intense heat surrounded his body as he struggled to walk out of the burning orphanage. He could hear screams from every direction, only prompting him to walk faster.

"Grk!" He hissed in pain, suddenly clutching his right side. Of course he didn't exactly make it through all that unharmed. A sharp piece of wood scratched his right side as he ran. It was painful, but he'll just have to walk it off... Literally.

If any of you are wondering what's happening, It's a bandit attack. We're just your run of the mill village, managing with our definition of Huntsmen going out and hunting for food, while also being able to protect us from some Grimm. Of course, sentient human beings who actually know how to block and fight don't exactly fall under that category... So we're here.

"DON'T LET ANY OF THEM GET AWAY!" A raspy voice sounded out from the boy's side, causing him to click his tongue and hide behind a conveniently large piece of fallen wood. Peeking up, he saw 5 people scavenging a house in front of him.

"well isn't that just swell.." Muttering that, the boy carefully sneaked away, and headed straight for the exit-

*CRUNCH*

He froze in place, Mostly in shock and fear.

"WHOSE THERE!" One of the bandits head whipped to the boy's direction and smirked. "Ehh, looks like one of them was tryna sneak away." Unsheathing a small dagger from his hip, he started walking to the boy.

"O-Oh... You're approaching me? Instead of rummaging  through those houses your approaching me?" The boy took a step back, though tried to sound confidant.

"I can't kill you without getting closer." To that, it didn't work.

"Hoho! Then please, back away!"

"NOPE!" With a grin, the man charged at the boy. Dagger ready to stab the boy.

"SHIT!" The boy closed his eyes, awaiting the embrace of death... Only.

..."What?" He slowly opened his eyes only to flinch back, the bandits face inches from his. However, the weird thing was that he wasn't moving. In fact, he didn't hear the annoying cackles of fires anymore. "???"

[If You Do Not Accept, You Will Die]

[Do You Accept]

[Y] [N]

As he finally noticed the screens, he started to read through them. Player? What, like a video game?

"What'll happen if I accept?" He was cautious. For all he knew, this was probably just his imagination and he was already dead.

[...You Don't... Die?]

"That didn't exactly sound confident." Deadpanning at the screen, he quickly shook his head. Fuck it. If this is a dream, he might as well live it a bit longer.

"I Accept."

[Welcome Player]

[Time will resume in 5 Seconds]

The screen disappeared, leaving just the boy.

"5 Seconds, ey." He glanced at the still frozen in place bandit, walked up to him, grabbed the dagger and stabbed it into his heart, all within the 5 second time frame.

The world regained it's original color, as the loud sounds once more dominated his hearing.

"G-Grkk... wha...." The bandit, now unfrozen, was shocked to see his dagger stabbed into his heart, however he soon fell to the ground dead.

"Quite a lot of words." From what Azure could see from just a glance, it was basically an average mmo, with some differences here and there. "I do feel stronger though..." He clenched his fist, grinning.

"Hey, what happened to Tom?" One of the other bandits finally noticed their missing companion only to find him dead with a kid next to him. "TOM! YOU BASTARD!!" Apparently enraged over the death of the other bandit, he takes out a knife and wildly charges at Azure.

"Hmm, I don't exactly know If I can fight. These AP points are distributable, right?"

[Correct]

"I see." He turns over the dead body and plucks the dagger out. "Can you put 3 in Agility and the rest in sense?" Staring at the charging bandit, he for some reason felt confident. Be it the fact that that he's somewhat stronger, or just something else...

"Bring it!" He took a lousy stance, one that just screams inexperienced, but the bandit felt a chill run down his spine, even in this heat.

"TCh... YOUR DEAD KID!"

(Timeskip... MH.)

"Grkk.. you... bast..d" The final of the 5 bandits die, as Azure lets out a long sigh. He was somehow able to take down the second bandit, then the other three with stealth. It was tricky, but he did it.

"I feel oddly refreshed." With the amount of time it took, the fires have finally died out, and everything was basically quiet. "Well... Now what." He doesn't need to look for anyone, considering his family has long since been dead, and he didn't have that much connection with the orphanage.

"I don't think I can still live here. I'm sure almost everything has already been taken. Even if there was anything, I probably couldn't last a week." Exiting the small house, as it started to crumple, Azure started to think things through.

Since his village was off the map, he doesn't actually know much about other places... Though he has heard some Huntsmen talk about Vale.

"Though I don't have a map, so that's a no.. Hmmmm." Pondering for a while, he came to an understanding. He has no idea where any place is, and will have to travel by foot till he finds civilization! "Damn... It's such a dumb plan that it might work... Or I die by a Grimm."

Yikes, he completely forgot about them. He should probably leave before the Grimm DO arrive. It's a miracle they haven't already.

"Welp. Here's to a journey.... I don't have a drink, nor am I of legal age to drink... Haaa." With that, he walked towards the exit and entered what was basically the unknown to him.

(Pov ??? Like it matters, considering....)

Interesting. To be able to take down 4 bandits at such a young age. Albeit, they were quite weak, very much so, but for him to do that. Not to mention how his power grew after every kill... Yes, I suppose he could be of use.

I'll follow him for a while. If he gets in a tough situation, I can use it as an opportunity to make him be in my debt

A squawk echoed throughout the silenced village, as a corvid trailed behind Azure.

With that, chapter one ends!

There are some things I probably will notice after a re-read, but that will take awhile. I've read all of Solo Leveling up till now, but my knowledge has dimmed a bit. I'll have to re-read it some other time to make some things easier. I'll also have to work on fight scenes. I think I do bad on those, so I'll have to improve.

Anyways, I'll stop. Thanks For Reading!
