Days passed with no word from Brook. It bugged her at little, but at the same time, it took her a while to fulfil her end of the bargain so she couldn't really complain. So, she took to distracting herself. She sparred, she danced, she hunted. Peter took her around the island, showing her places he liked to hide away. And they talked. A lot. He liked to hear about her life before she came to Neverland. She liked to hear about how he and the Lost Boys came here.
They were sitting on a cliff top overlooking a large expanse of forest when the rain started again. It had been raining on and off for days. Nothing more than a drizzle though. This however was a downpour. No, more than that. It was like the sky had opened up and every drop of water was just hammering down on them. They barely had time to question it before it stopped, and the sky was clear and beautiful once again.
"What the hell was that?" Nyx asked, spitting rain from her mouth.
"I have no idea." Peter pushed his rain-soaked hair from his forehead.
Nyx couldn't help but laugh, "You look like a drowned cat."
"You wouldn't be saying that if you could see yourself right now."
"I'm going to ignore that because there are bigger things to think about right now. Like whatever is up with the weather. This isn't normal, is it?" She could see out over Neverland and though they were both soaking wet, the island itself looked like it had been through a drought. Not a drop of water in sight.
"We need to get back to camp, the Boys will have questions, and I don't have answers yet." He wrapped an arm around her waist.
"Yet? Does that mean you're looking?" Nyx looked into his green eyes, so full of concern.
"I am, but every lead I follow comes up empty. Right now, we're lucky that whatever is happening is just messing up the weather. If it gets worse..." He trailed off.
"Hey, it won't get worse. We'll figure it out." Great, another thing to worry about.
Peter just nodded. Green smoke wrapped around the both of them. The cliff vanished from view, and they were back at camp. The Lost Boys milled around, drying out their now soaked clothes around the fire. They were discussing the weird rain, and their tension was palpable. For the first time since she arrived on Neverland, there was no air of freedom around camp. They were all terrified. And Nyx understood completely. If something was happening on Neverland without Pan's knowledge, then it had to be something bad.
As with the rest of the island, Camp was bone dry even if the Boys weren't. Peter used his magic to get the fire roaring and they all sat around it, shivering.
"What's happening to the island, Pan?" Felix asked, seething with barely contained rage. If having girls on Neverland was a source of anger for him, having something else taking over was about to push him over the edge.
Peter sighed, sweeping his hair out of his eyes again, "I'm not sure. But I don't want anyone leave camp tonight. I'm going to search the island, see if I can find out what's going on."
"We can help!" Devin half shouted. Several boys chimed in.
Peter laughed, "I'm grateful, but it's far too dangerous. I at least have the advantage of magic to save my skin if something goes wrong."
There were more protests, but they quickly realised that things must be serious if Peter was imposing this rule on them all. Normally he was fine to send them into potentially dangerous situations. The fact that he wasn't this time was a true testament to how bad things were.

The boys settled down to sleep. Peter created some kind of boundary around camp that would prevent them from leaving and protect them from any more abnormalities. Or so he hoped. Up in his treehouse, he paced, working out the best place to start looking.
