Game On

Chapter 2

The boy introduced him as Lee Chan but asked me to call him Dino. On our short walk to the house, he explained to me about seventeen. "So our group is made by S.coups hyung, his original name is Choi Sengchu by the way. He gathered the 13 of us and made this group seventeen. We are made because we want to protect our loved ones. It started with a business relationship but now we're all a family."

"We are well known for stealing the government's hunter's monsters but the government does not want this to get known to the whole wide world so they hush it up. Most of us hate the government because it stole a precious person from each one of us. I for example lost my mother to an F-ranked monster just because the government didn't think killing one F-ranked monster would earn them any money." His voice was bitter and I could understand how hard it was for him. 

"So, ready to meet the rest of our crazy group?" He asked brightening up quickly. Intrigued, I decided to follow along for now. I nodded and he opened the door. Well, it was more like waving his hand in front of the door and the door opening automatically. Walking in, the first thing I saw was more handsome guys. 

The house turned out to have a way larger space than what you see from the outside of the house. The house was two-storied. The first floor was a large living room with a TV and a mini PC corner. On the right, the room had an arch that led to a place that I guessed was the kitchen, from the yummy smell coming from there. The left had a door but it was tightly shut, so I had no idea where that led to. Upstairs had lots of doors to separate rooms. There was a stair leading from the first floor to the second floor near the door on the left.

Three people were playing games in the living room's mini PC corner. "This is so unfair." One of them whined throwing down his headset. "Wonwoo hyung is the best at games and he uses his abilities too. How are we supposed to beat him?!" He said and turned off the computer. A boy with glasses said, "It's not my fault I can't control my PA perfectly yet." "Whatever I'm not playing another round with you." Another boy replied letting out a yawn. 

Dino clapped his hands to get their attention and they all turned in my direction. "Hi!" The boy with glasses said, "I'm Wonwoo." He offered me his hand and I took it. We shook hands and I could feel his hard grip. "I'm Vernon!" Another one of them said brightly. We did a fist bump and the last boy introduced himself. "I'm Jun." He said and smiled at me. 

They looked at Dino expectantly as if they were waiting for him to say something else. Dino made his mouth in an O shape and explained, "Oh right, Wonwoo hyung's PA is intelligence. He knows everything, starting from the weakness of every monster to the smallest thing of finding a secret passage in a game."

"That's why everyone hates playing games with him. He always wins!" Vernon complained again. Dino scolded Vernon and told him to be quiet before continuing. "Vernon hyung's PA is-" Vernon cut him off again. "I can control stuff." Dino glared at the older boy. "She won't understand if you say it like that." He turned back to me. "He can move non-living objects with his mind. But there are a few penalties. For example, he can't move big things such as a sofa and he can't move any living things such as a living person."

"Cool," I said in awe. Vernon chuckled slightly before sending a packet of chips flying toward me. I received the packet with a small gasp. My eyes were probably sparkling by now. I ate the chips as Dino explained Jun's PA even if I still had no idea what a PA was.

"Jun hyung's PA is the ability to see routes. Like if he enters a labyrinth, he can see all the routes without going there and he can go on the correct path. It comes in handy whenever we get lost because he can easily find the correct way." Jun slightly bowed jokingly.

"But what's a PA?" I asked. "Oh, we thought you already knew. Well, PA is the short-term for Personal Ability. Every hunter has a Personal  Ability. No PA is the same and they range from good ones such as Vernon hyung's or Jun hyung's but they can be also small things such as being able to shout loudly or being able to see through walls." 

"By the way, what's your PA?" Dino asked turning towards me. "I-I don't know what my PA is," I mumbled quietly, slightly embarrassed. Dino patted my head. "No worries, Jeonghan hyung will find your PA fast enough." "Jeonghan?" I asked back, but a different person answered me this time. 

"Your future mentor." I turned to the source of the voice and saw a handsome guy (again) looking at me with a smirk. The boy was leaning against the railing of the second floor and the door behind him was open. I could see a very neatly cleaned room but I couldn't focus on anything but the boy.

He was tall and his hair was wet. He looked like he had just come out of the shower. A towel was draped over his neck and a cute-looking dog was rubbing his head against the boy's legs. "I'm Mingyu by the way. My PA is being able to talk to animals." He patted the doggie's head before heading down the stairs. 

While he came down, a blur appeared and another handsome boy was standing in front of me. "HI! I'm Hoshi!" His face was so close to mine, causing my body to malfunction. Thankfully Dino saved me and pushed Hoshi away. "As he said, this is Hoshi hyung. His PA is being able to enhance one part of his body."

"He can enhance his legs and be able to run really fast and jump super high, he can enhance his eyes to see far, or he can enhance his ears to hear really well." Hoshi gave me a beaming smile that was a bit too much for me. Luckily by now, Mingyu had come down the stairs and he pushed Hoshi away (poor Hoshi)  and stood in front of me. 

He had that cute white dog in his arms but his attention was on me. "What's your name?" My eyes widened at his gaze and I pulled my hair to cover my face. One new fact here - I have never had any connection/relationship with any boys, except for my little brother. Which means that the attention I was getting from these people made 

"Hey, Mingyu you're making our guest shy. She can't work out her escape plan because of you apparently." Another boy appeared (I don't think I need to tell you about how handsome he is like others) with a juice in his hand. Taking a casual sip, he slung his arms around Mingyu's broad shoulders. 

I just stood in shock. He just recited what I was thinking about. Without anyone telling me, I understood that his PA was to read people's minds. "Yup, you got that right." The boy said with a smile that started to get on my nerves. "Will you stop that?" I said angrily. He shrugged. "I can't help it. A pretty young lady comes in and I couldn't bear to not read her thoughts. Anyways bear with it, you're stuck with us. You won't be able to see your brother again by the way-" I couldn't hold it anymore with one slick move, I summoned a teleporter. A teleporter allows people to teleport but I assume you already know.

Hold up. I forgot to tell you about summoning items. It's a simple system. Hunters have something called an inventory, and they can summon things from the inventory as they liked. But there were two penalties. Anything bought from the game store couldn't be used against normal humans unless they were specifically made for them, like the potion I gave to Taehyun.

Things such as a knife or a gun would go straight past any normal humans but they are more than enough to harm hunters. They seemed surprised by my sudden move and there was complete silence for one full minute. Mingyu was the first to recover. He held my wrist gently but firmly. "Calm down Seoah. You can't teleport in or out here." Like he said my teleporter did not work.

I chewed on my lower lip (a habit I do whenever I'm annoyed) and sighed. "I never asked to come here and I don't want to stay here. Send me back." My voice was barely more than a whisper but due to the quietness of the room, my voice could be heard loud and clear. Dino let out a sigh. "I guess that's enough for today. We didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable. But please, consider staying with us." Dino mumbled something and I disappeared and teleported back to the place I was. On the way to the convenience store.
