I'm Waking Up

Oliver looked up as Tonks walked into the room, a solemn look on her face. She didn't need to say anything, he already knew what she was about to tell him.

For over a year they had been in hiding, waiting for this moment, knowing that it would come one day. And it was finally here.

Unfortunately, Iris still wasn't.

"He's found Harry," he said. She nodded.

"He's at Hogwarts. We're going now to help," she replied.

Oliver sucked in a deep breath. There was fear there, of course, but more than that, a sense of duty. The Order had been working for a long time to protect Harry. And now it seemed that one way or another, this war was about to come to an end.

He stood, straightening his clothes and checking his pocket for his wand, though he was never without it.

"Let's go," he said.

He followed Tonks out of his room and down the stairs to the small, yet warm living room of the safe house that they had been living in for the past few months. When Tonks became pregnant, it had gotten harder to move around, so they had taken to staying longer in one place. Putting up stronger wards. It reminded him of Iris and he wished many times that she had been there to help.

I've gotten rather good at them.

Oliver shook his head, trying to shake away the memory of her. The last thing he needed right now was to get sentimental. That could get him killed.

He tried to watch as the two walked over to say good-bye to their son, kissing the babe gently on the head while he slept in the arms of Tonks' mother.

But Oliver had to look away. As much as he loved wee Teddy, it pained him to watch them together. To be the family that he hoped to have with Iris. While he still held onto the hope that she would wake up and come back to him, the longer he spent away from her, the more he worried that it wouldn't happen.

It had been over a year since Dumbledore had whisked her away. Harry had been on the run for nearly as long - while Oliver had no idea where he was, he knew he wasn't at Hogwarts. The last he had seen him was for a fleeting moment at the disaster that was Bill and Fleur's wedding.

When Dumbledore died, Oliver assumed the secret of where Iris was kept died with him. As far as he was aware, Dumbledore had told no one where he had hidden her and all Oliver could do was pray that someone was caring for her. That she hadn't been left to waste away alone.

He didn't know if she would come back at this point. But there was no point in dwelling right now.

They had to protect Harry and Hogwarts. End the war.

There was a boom, a shift in energy. All around the castle was in chaos. But Iris still lay soundly asleep. There was another boom. Then a twitch of a finger.
