The Lost Spirits

(1) The Saviors

When Spilo was discovered, it was a sad sight to my mother, Queen Veronica. She had pity for the lost souls, that couldn't make it to heaven or hell. The souls with unfinished work that would wander around, wondering what their purpose was after life. My mother saw potential, and even though they were no longer human, she saw people with hope. So she gave them a chance to finish their work, to be free from the prison of the realm.

They called her "The Savior", the one that gave them another life. After years of compassion from my mother, they crowned her queen of the realm and asked her to name it. She named it "Spilo", short for Spilocary, which means sanctuary of the spirits. She saw Spilo as her home now, with all of her children, the souls. They were the reason she was still at Spilo.

She was actually on her way to the war, the war between humans and souls. She was asked to go to the war and fight against the humans, but instead, my mother found her new home. Her father banished her from her homeland, which she refuses to tell me and my sister about. He saw that she was not fit to be queen because she fled the war, so he told his realm that she was captured, and died in the war.

My grandfather ended up executing anyone who found out about the truth, to keep his popularity at bay. When my grandmother found out, she went into a frenzy and slaughtered my grandfather in his sleep with a large bayonet knife, then burned the castle down to the ground. She was found guilty 6 months later by the realm and was executed for punishment. Before my grandmother was killed, she cursed the people who wronged her, including my grandfather. She cursed them all to hell and to have her husband suffer for all the pain he inflicted on the family. Everyone now respects my grandmother and doesn't dare to injure her spirit, or else. They call her "Mother Equity", because of her love for equal rights and equal fights.
