***Forward Two Months Later***
I came out.
Not to everyone though. Just Maya, but so there was no suspicion on me having a crush on her, I directed her attention on another girl. Just a random from Chemistry. I know Maya likes me, but I'm not ready to tell her I feel the same. Though flirting levels are pretty high.
School ended a week ago and Maya and I have been hanging out nonstop and giving more reasons to like each other. I really like texting her and I really, really like FaceTiming her. She's cute and funny. She's the best.
This weekend we're going to a party and neither of us are clear on our relationship, so neither is allowed to get jealous. We didn't make it clear directly, but it was made clear.
So on the day of the party I picked her up. I couldn't express how beautiful she looked in such a simple outfit. A plain red crop top with black high waisted shorts with the same shoes I met her in- red Converse.
She approached the car with that beautiful grin of hers. She climbed in and looked at me. "Hey," she said putting on her seatbelt, "you ready?" I nodded, smiling too much to speak.
On our way to the party, I thought to myself. Did she think I was as pretty as I think she is? I got quick glances in the rearview. My thick uncontrollable brown, close to black, hair fell in loose curls around my shoulders. My light blue eyes catching the streetlights as we passed by.
"You look beautiful tonight," Maya said suddenly. My heart leaped out of my chest. Her voice wavered a bit and I knew she had contemplated on whether or not to say it. All I was wearing was a short sleeved green and blue plaid button up and black jeans with my Riddler converse.Nothing too special. Then I thought, she's thinking how I was when I picked her up. "Thank you," I said still smiling. I guess I can't stop smiling when I'm around her. She makes me happy.
