Back at the beach house, Raymond and Alain were waiting on Kimberly and Mairin just after Alain had confessed what he feared for Mairin's sake.

With that, Raymond and Alain flashed back to their conversation before Kimberly and Mairin arrived.

Raymond: While my wife is getting my daughter to come to console you about your fear, maybe you could tell me what's making you so afraid for my little girl.

Alain did not know if it were right to confess his fear to Mairin's father instead of Mairin, herself, but he decided it could help him be better prepared to tell Mairin his fears for her.

Alain: Well, it actually has to do with what you said about Mairin always giving people the benefit of the doubt, no matter what they did. I'm just frightened by the thought that someone may try to take advantage of Mairin's boundless innocence and confident trust in others. I'm also scared of the possibility that it might one day break her.

Raymond: I never imagined that there would ever be anyone as concerned for my daughter's big heart as you are.

Their joint flashback came to an end at that point.
