The sea below me gapes like an inky maw, but fear is not in my heart. Utter delight at the sight of you has filled me with such warmth that the very blood in my veins burns like liquid fire. My waxy feathers curl and turn into ash the closer I get to your radiant beauty, oh Apollo, my heart shudders from the intensity of my admiration for you. As I sink beneath the frothy waves, I smile, for what mortal can say they have touched the very sun with their bare hands?
