BAKUGO KATSUKI HAD FINALLY SUCCEEDED. He threw a last glance over his shoulder ... fuck, that had taken too long. Just to be 'safe' (though he loathed the word) he took an extra detour down a side street, emerging at his destination after an excruciating fifteen minutes.
Finally.
UA was beginning to get stupidly worried about their students, and some part of Katsuki knew that there was reasoning behind it, but it also wasn't like they were defenceless. They were in a Hero Course, for fuck's sake, they should all know how to protect themselves.
He made a face at the reminder of that word: hero. A word most people didn't seem to know the meaning of these days, with people corrupting the system with obsessions with publicity and appearances and promotions.
A hero was someone powerful, someone who save people, period. That was all there was to it.
He'd gotten somewhat carried away in his annoyed thoughts – he hadn't left the school grounds, taken great lengths to lose his supervisor, and been staying in the shadows of buildings, just to get annoyed about the fucked-up hero system.
No, unfortunately, Katsuki was there for a bit more an ... embarrassing reason.
He crossed the pavilion he'd been lingering around the edges of in forceful strides, taking a wide berth around the white French-style cafe chairs currently filled with chattering adults, and ending up at the bookstore.
Yeah, the lengths he was taking were honestly humiliating.
He was grateful for the black face mask concealing most of his features, and he'd even thrown a hood over his distinct blond hair, so the only recognisable part of him left were his red eyes. Pretty good, if he said so himself.
Crossing the threshold of the bookstore, careful to scuff the soles of his boots along the doormat a couple times, Katsuki made sure to linger in a couple of other sections, dragging his fingers across never-cracked spines, before finding the manga section at the back.
Hm. New volumes of those popular sports series', a couple of an adventure volumes he'd been contemplating, and ... there.
A pale pink spine, with white lettering and a small heart around the number 8 below the author's name.
Japan's most popular shoujo manga, currently the fixation of majority of the female teenage population, KISS ME!.
Katsuki immediately pulled the volume off its shelf, studying the cover and feeling a smirk pull at his lips. It was finally in stock in the stupid nowhere city of Musutafu, and his waiting for weeks had been rewarded.
He'd seen the cover the moment it had been leaked on some social media, but he had it in his hands now – a boy and a girl back to back, the girl, shorter and with a laugh frozen on her face, looking away, and the boy, tall, blond, and slightly flushed, head tilted towards her.
