DINNER PREPARATION WAS ... HECTIC TO say the least. The way the teenagers manoeuvred around each other like a well-oiled machine seemed to imply the motions of practice, but the process itself was certainly still being refined.
"Who the fuck washed the rice?" Katsuki yelled.
"I did." The response came from a boy called Todoroki with two-tone hair, who Y/N had learned was rather reserved.
"Your sister would be ashamed of you!"
"Oh, dear, not this again," Momo sighed, from where she was overseeing the ordeal at the edge of the kitchen. "Bakugo really is a wonderful cook, but he's so aggressive about correcting everyone else. Mind you, I can't really interfere, since I've never had to cook for myself much."
Y/N hummed, stepping to the side as Todoroki passed them on his way to the sink to rewash the rice. "What are we making?"
"Katsu curry and steamed vegetables. We make it nearly every time, since it's easy and everyone can contribute."
Sure to Momo's assurance, everyone was doing at least something. Kaminari was using his Quirk to power the rice cooker so it heated up instantly, Jirou was slicing the chicken with a concerning accuracy, and the others were either setting a lengthy table or preparing the steamed vegetables.
Y/N found herself carrying an armful of small cups and setting them along each of the places, struggling slightly to stop the stacks she'd created from spilling out of her grip.
Someone came behind her to smoothly sweep at least ten cups into his own arms, assisting her in setting up as if that had been his job all along.
"Thank you, Kaminari."
"No problem!" He grinned, energised as he always seemed to be. "Hey, call me Denki! You prefer first names, don't you?"
"Okay," she laughed, placing down the rest of the cups down. "Did you discover that particular fact from the manga?"
"Yep! Jirou and I both read it."
As always, Y/N had difficulty in continuing the conversation. She really didn't know what to say to someone who seemed to know almost everything about her life.
"Do you want to ask anything? I don't mind if you do."
"Yeah, actually!" Denki dropped into a chair casually, patting the one beside him as an invitation. "I mean, I don't know if you know this, but KISS ME! is from Chi– I mean, Nakano's perspective, so I was always really curious about what you experienced. Like, what's it like living in Tokyo?"
His question surprised her – a part of her had been subconsciously sure that he would ask something about Chikyu, about their relationship, about a love she'd been so sure wasn't there.
