Sam Uley

It's been almost a year since I had met the new vampire of the Cullens. I was out doing my patrol shift when I caught her strange scent. She didn't smell like most vampires do you know like vanilla and death. Running a few more laps around the perimeter curiosity got the best of me and I decided to go and check her out.  I ran towards the Cullen's house stopping just a couple feet from the treaty line hiding in the shadows just observing the tiny little vampire that didn't look like one and she damn sure didn't smell like one either. I watched as she got closer to the river that separates our lands from theirs when she arrived in front of it she curiously looked around before she climbed upon a large flat topped boulder and sat down. Once she was comfortable she let out a small sigh before she looked at me and spoke saying that she knew I was out there and that she would very much like to introduce herself to me and my pack. Deciding to meet the strange little vampire I went behind a bush and phased back to my human side and pulled on some cut off shorts before stepping out and introducing myself. Once I'm dressed I walk over and stand on the other side of the river directly in her line of vision. When she sees me she smiles really big and tells me that her name is Emerson Jade McCoy and she just turned 18 on the day that changed her life forever. While she told me a little bit about herself I stood quietly and watched how her face lit up when she talked about how she met her mate while she was waiting for a cab so she could get a bite to eat. She must of realized I hadn't said anything to her because she instantly said she was sorry for talking to much and not allowing me to say anything and that she talks too much when she's nervous. She then looks at me and says may I please have your name kind wolf I looked at her weirdly before telling her that my name is Sam Uley and that I'm the alpha of the Quileute pack. Then I asked her how come she doesn't smell like the nauseating aroma of vanilla and death like other vampires my pack has come across and she said that it's part of her gifts then she explained to me what her gifts are. She said she could control nature and also talk to it. Hearing that I asked her if that's how she knew I was hiding and observing her and she laughed and said yes that the large oak tree I was in front of told her there was a very large black wolf shifter silently watching me.  She then told me that she can appear human to other vampires and humans by changing her scent, but even though she could change her smell wolves and vampires could still tell that she wasn't quite as human as she smelt. She also said she could be in the sun and not sparkle like the others and that she could also still eat human food, and that she only has to drink animal blood twice a month. I asked her if she knew who turned her and how long she's been a vampire? She told me that she was turned on her eighteenth birthday day and that was on February 18th, 2005 while she was in Italy with her abusive family. I took notice that her mood became sad when she mentioned her family. She said that when she was growing up she and her older brother Lennon were abused because while their parents all had red hair and green eyes her and her brother had black hair and blue eyes. She said her parents hated them because they both inherited their great grandmother on their father's side hair color and eye color. She continued to tell me that her parents went to Italy to look for her brother when he hadn't been home in a couple months, and while they were in Volterra her father locked her in the bathroom while him and her mother went out to explore the area basically they were being tourists, and while they were out and about the housekeeping staff at the hotel we were staying at came in to clean the room and found her passed out on the bathroom floor and called the emergency services to help me. She said she was in the hospital for the night before the doctor said she could be released. Then she told me that she was scared that her parents would find her and beat her even more than they have ever done. She said that she walked around for a bit thinking about jumping from a bridge and ending her existence when she was grabbed and dragged into an dark alley where her attacker placed a hand on her mouth and then he bit down on her neck and seemed to be drinking her blood. She then told me that she decided that she wanted to live and fought the insanely strong person off and ran until she was in the town center bleeding to death while people just walked by and ignored her cries for help realizing that she wasn't going get any help from the locals she began to try and find help when she walked to the front of a tourist attraction that was a castle when a group of very beautiful people walked out and saw that she was hurt and decided to help her. She said the guy that appeared to be the father of the group slowly approached her telling her that his family were going to help her once the man had his arms around her tiny frame she let the darkness take over and passed out. She said she was in excruciating pain for what felt like weeks before she had woke up and the burning had stopped. She said she looked around and noticed everything was much more clear that she could see every little crack on the wall and dust particles in the air and that she could hear over longer distances with the room completely closed up. She then told me she sat in the bed for about ten minutes before a beautiful older looking Spanish lady came into the room to check on her only to get surprised when she realized that she was awake. Then she said the lady went and got her husband and three girls that live with them. She then told me that once the lady left to get her travel companions she decided to go to the bathroom and freshen up a little. She said she punched the mirror freaked out that her reflection didn't look like her anymore but looked like her. She went to say something else when we heard her name being called in a panicky kind of way she turned towards the voice to see who it was before turning back towards me and saying that it was a pleasure to meet me and that she hopes that we'll meet again and that she'd possibly get to meet the others in my pack too.  She then climbed off the boulder and walked back towards the Cullen's house and as I was turning to leave she said see you later Sam Uley and thank you for listening to me ramble on about my life, and I said that it was my pleasure, and that it was a pleasure to meet her too. Then I said see you later Emerson Jade and smiled at her. Then I watched as she disappeared from my sight before phasing into my wolf and running back home to tell the pack about the strange smelling little vampire that now part of the Cullen Coven.
